About our home

During Summer:
We are located on a quiet, ideally located, tree lined street near the North West Arm, a waterway with boat clubs and colourful sails. Dalhousie University is our immediate neighbour with pretty grounds and historic buildings . We are walking distance to Public Gardens, one of the finest Victorian gardens remaining in North America, with live music and ice cream shops. We are also walking distance to parks with scenic views, playgrounds, coffee shops, tennis courts and more. We are a short drive (or walk) to popular tourist destinations such as the national historic site, Halifax Citadel Hill with noon time cannons and bag pippers. Halifax's Waterfront comes alive in summer with many restaurants, shops, pubs and entertainment such as the August International Buskers Festival. Here sail excursions, deep sea fishing and wale watching can be arranged. Gorgeous sandy beaches, popular Peggy's Cove and wonderful seaside communities such as Chester and Lunenburg (a UNESCO world heritage site) are approx a 35-45 min drive. For those more adventurous, Cape Breton Island's Cabot Trail is a four hour drive. It has been listed by Conde Naste Traveler magazine as one of the world's four most beautiful islands! It also recognizes Nova Scotia as a photographer's dream.

During Winter:
In 2010 our city hosted the Canada Winter Games. As a result our ski hills which offer instruction for all levels have been upgraded significantly to Canada Games standards. As well, a wonderfully large skating oval is now part of our very central Halifax Common for day/night skating for all levels and ages (all gear is supplied free of charge). Winter horse and carriage rides take place in various spots throughout the city and through wooded areas in local communities which also offer snow shooing, cross county skiing and maple syrup outings. We have on hand great sleds/helmets and a superb sledding hill within walking distance.

Our Home:
Southcottage (as we call it) boats an English garden and whimsical children's play structure, enclosed in a lovely, private, fenced back yard with new deck, new grill and pergola.

Our home has recently undergone a complete, architecturally designed, transformation and will be photographed to appear in a popular, national home design magazine. The house is bright with plenty of closet space, uncluttered and very clean. All is new, comfortable and professionally decorated.

The main floor kitchen has professional appliances, Italian espresso machine and marble counter tops. Glass doors lead to the patio and quaint, lush back yard. Off of the kitchen is a casually hip living room with electric baby grand piano.

There are 3 bedrooms located on top floor, master with en suite and king bed plus two beautiful children's rooms each with a single bed and trundle. Baby monitor available.

The bottom floor has a queen bed and en suite with steam washer/dryer. After a long day of exploring, enjoy the bottom floor entertainment room with propane torch fireplace, large screen TV, surround sound, Netflix & Playstation 3. Or leave the kids home and we can provide a list of our local sitters.

Our vehicle is available as well. It is a 2010 Volvo XC90 which seats seven. We have several booster seats if needed.

Please note that we are a non smoking home/vehicle.

*** We are seeking a swap March 2013 and summer 2013.
