Bright and cozy open concept 3 bedroom home on a quiet cottage road. Both living room and dining room offer great views of the lake. Listen to the waves from the front deck! There is a queen sized bed in the main bedroom and the children's rooms both have single beds. There is also a futon bed in the basement rec room. We have two bathrooms, both have showers and one also has a jacuzzi bathtub. We have air conditioning, although rarely need it as the breeze from the lake and the trees generally keep our house very comfortable. We have a beautifully landscaped yard with several large perennial flower beds, ornamental shrubs, and many trees. When we need a larger yard for the kids to play sports, we generally use the large grassy park area which is directly across the road and attached to the private beach.
We love our neighbourhood and truly believe that we have the best of both worlds! When we sit on our deck and listen to the waves or watch the stars we feels like we are far from civilization. Yet, as we describe below, we are very close to big city amenities and a variety of recreational facilities. Our neighbourhood is a friendly place where people look out for and help each other
We live on a quiet private cottage road (dead end road used only by residents) with a private beach immediately across the road from our home (roughly 70 metres from our house). The beach is generally deserted as the majority of residents have lakefront property. Directly behind our backyard are several hundred acres of beautiful woods with walking trails. We live 12 minutes from the mid-size lakeside city of Barrie which offers a great selection of amenities (shopping, restaurants, theatres etc.). There are several golf courses in the surrounding countryside within a kilometre or two of our home. Nature enthusiasts will appreciate our proximity (2 hours) to the famous wilderness camping/canoeing destination, Algonquin Park, and other natural wonders such as Niagara Falls and the Niagara Escarpment. Finally, the exciting city of Toronto is only a one hour drive south (go train service is also available 15 minutes from our home).
In the summer we enjoy playing and swimming at our sandy beach, cycling, canoeing (our canoe is available to use) on Lake Simcoe, and simply walking in our lovely, quiet neighbourhood. When we feel like more excitement we head to Toronto for the evening.
We are a married couple with two sons (ages 8 and 12). I am a social worker and my husband is a teacher. We love our home and our neighbourhood but also love to travel! We particularly love spending time in nature (hiking, canoeing, camping etc.) but also enjoy exploring cities and experiencing art, architecture and culture. We take good care of our own home and would be careful and respectful of any home that we visited.
