About our home

Our bright, spacious three storey home offers stunning views of the Rocky Mountains from the front windows and forest views from the back. The first floor has a large, comfortable living room with a gas fireplace, hardwood floors throughout, a huge kitchen and dining area with a sunny balcony for outside eating and a bedroom/study. The second floor has a large master bedroom with a queen bed, sitting area and full ensuite, two additional bedrooms, one with a queen and one with a twin bed, and another full bathroom. The third storey loft, accessable by a ladder, has three more beds and a children's play area. Our large basement has a work area and ping pong table. Our back yard borders on a forest and we often see deer wandering through the yard. You are welcome to use either of our two vehicles- a Jetta or a seven seater Dodge minivan.

More about us

We are Bill and Helen, both biologists, with three adult children and a 14 year old son. Bill is the director of a native intertribal fisheries commission and Helen is the program manager for Wildsight, an environmental organization. We are both very active in the community, and Bill is the local cross-country ski team coach. Our 14 year old son, Stefan, will travel with us.

Kimberley is a friendly mountain town (population of 6,000) nestled between the Rocky and Purcell Mountains, renowned for its beautiful scenery, abundant wildlife and outdoor recreational opportunities. The Kimberley Alpine Resort, a 5-minute drive from our house, offers excellent skiing for all abilities (see www.skikimberley.com for more info). The ski hill is open until April 8th this year and typically has great spring skiing conditions from March until after the hill closes. The cross-country trails offer 30 km of groomed trail, including a three kilometer lit loop. Two other popular ski destinations, Fernie and Panorama, and the Fairmont and Radium natural hotsprings are only 1.5 hrs away. Kimberley offers many walking and hiking opportunities including the 800 hectare Kimberley Nature Park situated within the City boundaries (see www.rockies.net/kimberley/naturepark). We have abundant wildlife in our area and elk, deer, moose, black bears and bighorn sheep, bald eagles and ospreys are commonly seen. Kimberley has become a golfing destination with three golf courses within the City and several other world class courses in the area (see www.kimberleycondos.com click on golf courses). In addition to outdoor adventure Kimberley offers a new indoor aquatic center, great shopping in a variety of unique stores and restaurants in our "Platzl". Kimberley's proximity to the Rocky Mountains provides a great base for exploring Banff and Kootenay National Parks.
