We had our home built 2 years ago, as our family was growing. As I've read someone's description of their house, ours is an upside down type, because the main level is on the second floor to be able to enjoy the view of Mount Orford. We offer 4 bedrooms, master bedroom is on the main floor, while kids bedrooms are on 3rd level. 2 1/2 bathrooms, kitchen and living room space are open. We also have a sun room, adjacent to the living room, but separated by a gas fireplace. We have a one car garage available. First floor, or basement, is where the reckroom is, with video games (WII console), air hockey table and regular hockey table (yes, we have boys!!!). We have a trampoline outside and enough space for the kids to play. We have fibre optic cable on a 42" TV on the main floor, and another smaller TV downstairs for video games. Many board games, books, movies to relax when the weather is bad. We have a large balcony, overlooking the town and mountain. Patio set and BBQ for your enjoyment. I've been looking through the many homes on this site, and I want to specify that ours is a lived in home. What I mean by that is reflected in the pictures: a few toys, here and there, etc. We believe that this is what makes a house a home, and I hope you feel that too. We have an old friendly cat who likes to lay in the sun around the house. We would appreciate if you could feed him daily. But if case you can't, don't worry, we would send him to the sitter's.
We are situated on a hill (thus the view), but downhill is where this touristic town's action happens. The main strip is filled with tourists and restaurants, bars and terraces where you can enjoy some live entertainment. We have a lake, the Memphremagog, and a beautiful bike path along it, perfect for rollerblading. You can even swim at the lake, there is a beach. There is a boat on the lake, Grand Cru, on which you can enjoy fine dining and enjoy the view of the many luxurious homes on the lake, maybe even Sylvester Stallone's, or Donald Sutherland's summer homes. Other activities include l'Abbaye St-Benoît, an old monastery where you can find fine cheeses and other local goods. The Orford Express is a train which offers different menus and travels around the area. Bleu lavande is a lavender field where you can walk and enjoy the delicate perfume of lavender and buy different products made of this lovely plant. Mount Orford offers ski in the winter, but in the summer, you can pedal your way to the mountain from Magog. You can go hiking there. Nearby, you will find Nordic Station, a really nice scandinavian type spa with hot and cold sources of bathing, hamman and sauna. Massages available on the site.
After a few days of enjoying our town, you might want to explore the surroundings. We are situated about 1 1/2 hour from Montreal and 2 1/2 hours from Quebec city. Bromont is a town only a half hour away where you will find outlets and a waterpark. You'll see, you won't get lonely or bored around here.
Magog is situated only 30 minutes from the US border. Therefore, only 30 minutes to Newport Vermont, which is the city on the US side of our beautiful Memphremagog lake. Lots of things to enjoy and see in Newport in the summer.
