About our home

Our house is a large family home that invites relaxation and comfort. No worries about putting your feet up on the coffee table here as it is a true family home. The family room, kitchen and master bedroom overlook a forested area and flower garden. The terrace features an outdoor fireplace perfect for roasting marshmallows and watching the stars at night. There is also a spacious dining room, living room, three other bedrooms and two baths on the main floor. Additionally, there is a large unfinished basement for the kids to let loose and play Wii or a number of other games. The house has beds to sleep 6 comfortably.

More about us

We are a family of 5; (both 42) Ron works for the BC gov in Health and I (Veerle) own a home decor store, plus our 3 children ages Vanessa 16, Nicholas 14 and Alexander 8. We would love to see more of Europe as we had a wonderful home exchange in Versailles but are open to all offers!
We all love to travel and our children are experienced travellers open to new places as well.
We have a small dog so would be happy to care for your pet if you would care for ours. Otherwise, we are able to have Cricket cared for elsewhere during the exchange.

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

The neighbourhood is tucked away at the foot of the famous Malahat Drive on Vancouver Island and the house is situated in a lovely area of homes and backed by a forest. The neighbourhood is named 'Deer Park' for good reason; you will frequently see deer in the back yard plus lots of other wildlife; eagles, hares, racoons, partrigdes! Walk to the beach (20 minutes) or drive 10 minutes to the resort community of Shawnigan Lake. There are many lakes and rivers in the area great for fishing, swimming, tubing, boating and hiking. Scenic mountain views, ocean views, and forests abound here and it is only 30 minutes from the capital city of Victoria, a world class popular destination. Victoria offers everything a major city should and then some, from whale watching tours to excellent museums, fine dining and more.

Day trips to Tofino, Long Beach, Parksville, Campbell River, Vancouver and more are must sees when visiting this area. We can supply you with lots of sightseeing information.
