About our home

We have the perfect combination quality "comfy" home and outstanding location. Our house is a charming "hygge" log home only 10 kilometres from the vibrant mountain town of Nelson in southern British Columbia. British Columbia is the western most province of Canada. We have recently upgraded much of our home. It is one bedroom (King size bed) with an open loft, three decks, lovely views of Kootenay Lake, the city of Nelson, and the surrounding forest and mountains. Our kitchen is small but up to date and very functional. The bathroom has large windows looking out on the forest and a lovely larger than usual claw foot bathtub from the early twentieth century, but is without a shower.
The nearest airports to Nelson are Castlegar B.C. (30 minutes), Cranbrook B.C. (3 hours), Spokane Washington U.S.A. (3 hours), Kelowna B.C. (4 hours), Calgary Alberta Canada (7 hours) and Vancouver B.C. (8 hours).

More about us

  1. We are a retired couple. We are excited to take advantage of our new freedom to explore the world.

  2. Lynn created custom lighting for homes and businesses, and Ray was a college special education instructor.

  3. We love hiking, nature, adventures of all sorts, exploring different cultures, architecture and art, and great food!

Where is it?

Our neighbourhood is quiet and friendly. Our neighbours are lovely helpful folks who are our friends. Many of them are retired or semi-retired professionals. Houses are well kept, yards are large with gardens, fields, large trees. We are adjacent to a mountain and forest with trails that you can easily explore. Below our home is a creek that you can hear when you are outside enjoying a morning coffee or evening glass of wine from one of our three decks. The creek also provides a lovely cool breeze each evening.
We are in a fantastic location surrounded by many things to explore and experience. A short drive will get you to multiple beautiful sandy beaches, boating, fishing, world class hiking, mountain biking, golfing, soaking in three different commercial hot springs, down hill and cross country skiing, (we are known for fantastic amounts of champagne powder snow), (Whitewater Ski Hill is famous), museums, heritage buildings, galleries, kayaking, paddle boarding and canoeing (rentals are available only three minutes from our home), theatres, unique boutiques, and many quality cafes and restaurants. The Kelowna/Okanagan wine district or the Canadian Rocky Mountains are a lovely getaway that are within a few hours drive.
