About our home

Our house is a country comfortable house with lovely west facing views over the ocean and distant mountains. It has three bedrooms, a very large kitchen with a high ceiling and a deck off it. There are two bathrooms, one of which is an en-suite off the master bedroom. The living room is spacious and has a wood burning fireplace for that cosy feel in the winter months.
The road we live on is very quiet. We have 1.7 acres of land with a small area of forest. It is very peaceful at night and there are great views of the stars as there a re no street lights..
Sidney, the nearest town is 7 Kms away. There are several large grocery stores here and a lot of shops and restaurants. Coffee shops abound. it has everything you need from banks to hairdressers and big box stores. Sidney has a walkway along the waterfront looking out over the gulf islands for peaceful strolls.
Just up the road from our house there are tennis courts and 4 new pickle ball courts. Pickle ball has gained huge popularity in these parts and it is a very social sport.
For scuba divers, the waters around here are crystal clear and there are several wrecks which you can dive off.
The Gulf Islands are a group of inhabited islands and make for great day trips on the small ferries which service them. The ferries are only 10 minute drive from here.
For skiers Mt Washington is a three hour drive away. You can get accommodation on the mountain and it has both downhill skiing and 55 kms of cross country ski trails.
A longer drive of about 5 hours would take you to the west side of Vancouver Island where the coastline is rugged and has big waves famous among the surfing fraternity. Tofino is well known for its great surf especially in the winter. Storm watchers also really enjoy going to Tofino or Ucluelet.
Vancouver lies 1.5 hours away on the BC ferries and there is world class entertainment, culture and a host of activities. Just north of Vancouver up the spectacular Sea to Sky highway is Whistler ski resort. Alternatively Vancouver boasts three small ski hills just north of the city where you can ski all day and all night.

We are most interested in a long stay home exchange for the months of February and March 2020 preferably to anywhere from South Sydney to Coffs Harbour with car exchanges also.

The local elementary school is 2 kms away and is located across the road from our local corner store/ deli/ coffee shop and gas station.
