About our home

Our spacious, cared-for home is comfortable and centrally located. It has high ceilings, bay windows, hardwood/carpets, and original art. The furniture is tasteful and comfortable. The kitchen, with its new stone counters, is completely equipped, has an attached pantry, and looks out on a stand of tall pine. It is adjacent to a formal, elegant dining room with a piano. Candle light and music can set the scene. The sunlit living room has a fireplace as well as large original sliding doors and others of etched glass. There are back and front porches that provide shade and a summer breeze, with a large yard. There are 4 bedrooms and a 3-piece bathroom on the second floor. The master bedroom is south-facing and has an antique bedroom suite with a queen size bed and satellite TV. The second bedroom also has a queen-size bed and its new balcony overlooks the large yard and a neighboring coach house. The remaining two bedrooms have either a single or double bed. The third floor is spacious, with pine, sunlit accents, a high cathedral ceiling, fireplace, and entertainment area with sat. TV, sofa bed, & fridge. There is an office room next to it that has a small loft above. Our home has a finished basement that has a laundry room and a 3-piece new bathroom along with an office that has its own entrance. This is our primary home and we spend summer time at our lakeside cottage that is about 35 minutes away. We very much enjoy our friendly neighborhood, having lived here for over 30 years. It is treed, stately, & very welcoming.

Where is it?

We live in a small, vibrant, artistic city located in a vacation region. Our home is in the older, well-preserved section of the city that is downtown. We are in proximity to 8 lakes connected by the Trent Severn waterway (chosen among top 100 trips in the world by National Geographic). One river and lake are in the city and include the largest hydraulic liftlock in the world. There is a university and college here. People are friendly and helpful. There are weekly markets and free weekly music concerts and fireworks - how to be cool on a hot summers evening! Natural areas are closeby and can include wilderness camping. We have great dining, entertainment, art galleries, a new large fitness center nearby with pool, walks, and are close to good shopping. We are well situated for enjoying the outdoors or travel (car and/or train) to other well-known centers being north-east of the Toronto area (1 hr), as well as in day-trip range of Niagara Falls (2.5 hrs) and Canadas capital city Ottawa (3 hrs). Montreal and Quebec are accessible (4 hrs) for those who might wish to have a distinct French-Canadian cultural experience. Summer daily highs are usually about 25-30 C. (77-85 F.).
