About our home

We live in a beautiful neighbourhood of Toronto called 'Bloor West Village', a small, safe community that's a short subway ride or drive from all the hustle and bustle of downtown. This is our only residence so we can only arrange simultaneous swaps.

Our house is nearly a century old, but completely renovated and modernized. It is surrounded by mature trees which provide fantastic shade and a cool breeze in the summer.

The main floor consists of a foyer and open concept kitchen, dining room and living room. Our kitchen is equipped with top of the line appliances, a large island with seating for four, and leads to the backyard patio where you can relax on our garden furniture or enjoy a meal "al fresco". The dining table extends to seat 10. The living room has a Rumford wood burning fireplace and seating for 6.

The second floor is comprised of three bedrooms and one 4-piece bathroom (tub with rain shower shower, toilet, vanity). The master bedroom overlooks the backyard and has a queen size bed as well as an office area. The second bedroom has a twin (single) bed, and the third bedroom has a twin (single) bed with a twin size pull-out trundle bed (outfitted with a comfy and firm foam mattress).

The basement was just finished and does not feel like a basement at all with its 8' ceilings. We have a plush, very comfortable double size mattress in the basement that can be laid on the floor to accommodate 2 more people. There's a large family room with built-in cabinetry, a gas fireplace, a 60" 4K TV and a VERY comfortable, deep, down-filled custom-made sectional sofa. The bathroom/laundry room has a large walk-in shower, floating vanity and washer/dryer. There's also a small office nook and an electric piano.

Our backyard is idyllic in the summer! We have a lovely perennial garden, with a Weber BBQ and modern, comfortable furniture. There is no fence between our yard and our next door neighbour's - fortunately for us, they are a wonderful young family and we love combining our yards to create a very large play area for all our kids to enjoy.

Bloor West Village is one of Toronto's most sought- after neighbourhoods, for it's proximity to great shops & restaurants, public transit and Lake Ontario. It is TRULY a village in a metropolitan center. Jane subway station is at the bottom of our block, a 1 min walk! Downtown is a short subway ride or drive away. It is a leafy, family-friendly neighbourhood that offers the best of both worlds: safety and quiet, yet within minutes to all the action that Toronto has to offer.

The MAIN attraction, in our opinion, are the incredible parks and playgrounds within close proximity. There are several playgrounds within a 5 mins walk from our house. High Park is the crown jewel (about 15 mins walk or 2 mins drive). It is a stunning 400 acre parkland with hiking trails, manicured gardens, a pond, small zoo, 2 playgrounds, abundant wildlife and much more! The Humber Trail is a 5 mins walk - it is a nature lover's paradise, with walking trails alongside the Humber River. Lake Ontario is a 20 mins walk or 5 mins drive and offers a beautiful boardwalk, sandy beaches, lots of playgrounds and historic Sunnyside Bathing Pavilion with a cafe and large outdoor swimming pool. For water enthusiasts, canoes, kayaks and paddle boards are available for rent - a wonderful way to explore Lake Ontario and adjoining Humber River.

There is so much to do in and around Toronto. The city is a haven for food and theater lovers. Fortunately for us, many of the city's best restaurants are in the west end and easily accessible from our house.

There's lots to do to satisfy both adults and children alike: world-class art, natural history and science museums, the incredible CN Tower with it's glass floor and revolving restaurant, Ripley's Aquarium, Toronto Island (one of our favourite places in the summer!). Toronto Zoo, Canada's name but a few.

Within a 90-mins drive are: the incredible Niagara Falls (one of the seven wonders of the world), Niagara-on-the-Lake (home to the Shaw Theater Festival and in the heart of Ontario wine country), several Provincial Parks, and some amazing beaches.

We will leave you with information on the best that the city has the offer! :)
