About our home

Our home is over 100 years old but we have done extensive renovations to modernize it while keeping its older style appeal. It has a cozy front porch and a laneway runs behind the property giving us an area large enough to park 3 extra cars. Upstairs are two bedrooms (one with a queen bed, one with a double), a laundry room with lots of room for ironing etc., a full bathroom and lots of extra closets. Downstairs is a study at the front of the house, a living room with new 42" HD plasma TV, a modern kitchen, another full bathroom, another small study and a lovely new sunroom stretching across the back of the house where we have our dining table, more seating and another TV. This looks onto a two tier deck incorporating a small fishpond. There are beautiful gardens but in a small enough area that tending for them doesn't become overwhelming.

More about us

  1. My husband and I are both retired and want to start seeing more of the world that just the all-inclusive resorts and time shares. He worked in industry and I was for most of my career with the Board of Education in computer related capacities. We have three grown sons and three grandchildren as well as three cats which take very little maintenance as they have their own cat flap to come and go as they please.
We would probably be looking to exchange sometime after September 1st/06. If you're looking for a winter destination, St. Catharines is situated at the base of the Niagara Escarpment giving it the most temperate climate in the province.

Where is it?

St. Catharines is right in the heart of the Niagara Peninsula. Our neighbourhood is a quiet older area within a 10 minute walk to town where there are a number of nightclubs and restaurants. While there are the usual downtown shops, the main shopping is at a large mall which is just a 10 minute drive away. The city has a population of approximately 130,000 and offers a complete range of amenities as well as being home to Brock University. The surrounding area is becoming very famous for its wineries and there are well over 50 little local industries as well as some world famous ones. The quaint town of Port Dalhousie, a 5 minute drive, is home to the world famous Henley Regatta and has a beautiful beach, marina and 5 cents a ride antique carousel. About 20 minutes away is the historical town of Niagara on the Lake, a mecca of quaint shops and world class theatre. Niagara Falls is only a 15 minute drive and besides the natural beauty of the Falls are its numerous tourist attractions now including two large casinos. If you're after big city attractions, Toronto is only an hour's drive away.
