If you are searching for the ideal place to unwind, explore nature, sit on a patio and sip a morning coffee, or wrap up in a blanket in front of a wood fireplace, then you will love our log home. Built in 1990 out of massive logs, our home features 4 bedrooms and a loft. Nicely furnished and equipped with new appliances, it has everything you need for a relaxing and memorable vacation. The huge south-facing bay window overlooks an open plateau and an impressive mountain range. Sit on the porch and hear nothing but singing birds and the sound of the river echoing in the valley. Hike down to one of the two rivers that our property fronts. If you're quiet you might just see a moose. In the summer the river is a great place for swimming, picnicing or fishing for river trout. If you happen to come in August you can enjoy the experience of picking wild blueberries. We have at least 5 acres full of blueberries!
Winter is a great time. Sled right off the porch. Or go snowshoeing in waist deep snow. You will be mesmerized by the beauty. Fall colors are splendid from mid September to mid October. The mountains are aflame.
The layout is open and spacious, perfect for large gatherings. The home was built for a quadraplegic so it is handicap accessible.
Our property is a 70 acre parcel comprised mainly of an open plateau stretching between two rivers. One of the rivers is the mighty Riviere Montmorency which culminates in an impressive waterfall closer to the city. This river is a challenge for experienced kayakers as well as trout fisherman. The other river is smaller and perfect for a summer swim, even with the smallest children.
You can spend all day hiking the property and enjoying the scenic views. But what is so amazing is that you can jump in your car and in only 30 minutes you can be right in the middle of the old walled city of Quebec (Vieux Quebec) with its outstanding pubs, quaint cafes, museums, horsedrawn carriages, etc... There are also several ski resorts and golf courses within 10-30 minutes. There is something for everyone and for every season.
We are an American family from Michigan that lived in Quebec for almost 4 years. We fell in love with the area, the culture and the people. After searching for many months for a uniquely special location near Quebec City we believe we found it. The area is quiet, the views unspoiled, and the neighbors are very friendly and welcoming. They enjoy meeting guests from other places and when possible, practicing their English. We spend several weeks at the chalet each year and then rent it out (or do exchanges) when possible. Simultaneous exchanges are not necessary.
We love exploring the outdoors, enjoy the beach, and really love the chance to be introduced to other cultures and places. We are fluent in English and French (Mais oui, on parle le francais, mais avec un gros accent americain, bien sur!) :-)
We would welcome any offers for possible home exchanges.
