Our 4000 sqft home is located on 1.26 acres overlooking a marina and the Nicomekl Serpentine Estuary (also known as Mud Bay). The property is full of many large trees, most over a hundred years old, some that hold eagle's nests, and some summers the herons come back to roost. On a clear day we have a beautiful view of the mountains as well. There is a path at the back of the house that one can hike down that will take you straight into the marina where you can continue on to the ocean or to the river. In the house, the kitchen is built for people that love to cook and entertain, with a professional gas stove, sub zero fridge, large island, a table that seats 12 and a gas fireplace. You can watch the eagles fly by the window as you drink your coffee in the morning and you can watch beautiful sunsets on the deck as you drink your wine in the evening. The master bedroom is quite large with an ensuite, a king size bed and a window seat that is perfect for a child to sleep on. The two guests rooms are on another floor and have double beds, and there is one child's room beside the Master with a loft bed and a single bed. The downstairs playroom contains a child's climbing wall, an air hockey table, an eliptical trainer, a gas fireplace, and many toys that can remain or be stored, as the situation dictates. There are three TVs with DVD players in the house and in the office is a computer with ADSL internet that is online all the time.
Warren (43) is a software engineer. He is a huge Tour de France fan and an avid cyclist. Charlotte (39) is a stay at home mom who has been to Germany, Brussels, Croatia, Bosnia, France, and England but never to Italy or Spain. Our son is 6 and is in a French Immersion School and our daughter is 4 and will also be in the same program when she is old enough. They are very well behaved and respectful children. We have a cat and a dog but they will be kennelled out while we are away. We did a home exchange to France last summer and it was an absolutely wonderful experience! We are all very excited about the possibility of spending half the summer in Europe again!
Crescent Beach is 25 minutes South of Vancouver International Airport; 10 minutes to the US Border (2 hours to Seattle, WA); 35 minutes to Vancouver; 25 minutes to the Ferry Terminal to Vancouver Island; and about 1.5 hours to Whistler - depending on traffic. The house itself is within walking distance to tennis courts, parks, a video store, coffee house and bakery. A 15 minute walk will take you to the beach, great restaurants and a swim club (that gives lessons for swimming and tennis). A 10 minute drive will take you to White Rock. The area is great for active people. You will find many golf courses and tennis courts as well as running/walking trails, a rowing club, canoeing and kayaking. We have a canoe with everything required to operate it and are willing to exchange our minivan or Passat.
