We have 1.4 forested acres for your children to run and explore. Fresh water in the Tay River is clean, shallow and safe to swim in for all ages. Frogs, many types of birds and turtles call the river home. Kayaks and canoes are favourite modes of transport - no noisy motor boats on the river. From the dock you can do some fishing or pour a glass of wine and watch the sunset. A campfire at night will wind up your family's day of swimming, fishing, kayaking, barbequing, and biking.
Our seasonal home is located in the lovely Tay Valley region, one hour drive southwest of Canada's capital city of Ottawa and one hour north of historic Kingston. The village of Perth, 10 minutes drive down the road from the cottage, is named Most Beautiful Town in Ontario http://www.beautifulperth.com/. There you will find great shopping, pubs & restaurants, a bowling alley and indoor pool. It is also noted for its summer festivals and professional theatre. More swimming and hiking trails are found nearby at Foley Mountain Nature Reserve and Murphy's Point Provincial Park. Wesport and Balderson are other lovely villages to explore to find one of a kind pieces by local artisans. Be sure to take the kids to visit a real North American drive-in movie theatre, located 15 minutes away in Port Elmsley.
