“We spent a week in the home of Thomas and Kathy in Toronto. We were able to walk to many pubs and local shops nearby on our way to the beach. We also enjoyed the bicycles that were offered to us. Toronto has a very active cycling scene and many places are best enjoyed by bike, especially Toronto Islands. We were able to easily day trip to the Niagara Region for sightseeing and wine. Toronto Blue Jays games were an easy get to via street car from Kathy and Thomas\' as were many famous sights Toronto is know for. The home was an oasis in the city, we loved how comfortable everything felt to us, and the outdoor spaces were difficult to leave on a sunny day. We found Thomas and Kathy available to email or chat on the phone with on a number of occasions and were very responsive with all of our questions. I would happily recommend this couple as exchange partners.”
Thomas's reviewsAs a host (2)
“We exchanged with Kathy and Tom quite awhile back and had a wonderful holiday to Toronto and beyond. Their home is really well situated, allowing you ease of access to the city whilst being really quiet. The beaches and boardwalk are literally on your doorstep as well as restaurant, cinemas and quaint little shops. Communication with Kathy and Tom was great and they are a lovely couple that put our mind at ease (it was our first exchange) and made us discover this wonderful way of visiting our planet. A great exchange in a lovely city. Sebastien”
Where is it?
The beaches is a very unique location. We are a 5 minute walk from 4 km of park land and beach along Lake Ontario. There is a 4km boardwalk as well as a bicycle path along the lake. The Olympic size pool is right on the Boardwalk about a 10 minute walk from the house. The bicycle path is part of a network of bicycle paths that allows one to cycle through the many ravines in the city. One hour north of the city there is snow skiing in the winter and many lakes for swimming, fishing and boating. There is also a large amusement park with many exciting rides, just 40 minutes from the city.
Also for those who love camping and roughing it the Algonquin National Forest with its bears, beaver, deer and moose is just a three hour drive. Niagara Falls, the Niagara wine country, the Shaw and Stratford Theatre Festivals are just over an hour from the city. Of course 800 metres from the house you can take a 30 minute streetcar ride to downtown Toronto. The city has been called Hollywood north because of large number of movies that are made in the city. Because of its low crime rate, its many theatres, cultural venues, and any possible ethnic restaurant you could possibly want, Toronto has also been referred to as a clean safe "little New York". The Beach area itself has many restaurants, specialty shops, a supermarket, and 2 cinemas within walking distance from the house.
