About our home

Please note our cottage is not available during July and August for house-swaps, as it used by our family.

Our custom-built waterfront lake house/cottage sits on the shores of a beautiful swimming lake, in a natural forest area. This is the kind of place you go to get away from it all ... sit by the lake and read a good book, swim, canoe, kayak, fish, hike, enjoy nature, play board-games and relax. It is located in Eastern Ontario about 3 hours from Toronto and 2 hours from Ottawa. You can do day-trips to nearby Kingston, Prince Edward County and small towns near the "Land O' Lakes" area of Ontario, and even Ottawa if you get up early!
The cottage is spacious and fully equipped for 4 season use; has a large country kitchen and outdoor gas BBQ where you can prepare delicious meals and bake treats. This is real cottage-country ... no restaurants or take-away close by but there is a well-equipped grocery store and butcher shop in the nearby town.
Vintage-look plank floors throughout are complimented with Ontario knotty pine doors, trim and cabinets; with casual and comfortable furniture in the huge "great room". The screened-in porch features deep seating and provides respite from the evening mosquitoes. Each of the bedrooms has a comfortable queen size bed, and there is a full bathroom with shower, plus a 2pc bathroom.
We have a large deck with an outdoor dining set and "Muskoka chairs" for relaxing and watching the lake, and a private dock for swimming and soaking up the sun. We have two premium kayaks and a canoe to enjoy on the lake which is 15 miles long.
Our lake is very clean with clear water that is beautiful for swimming; the water gets up to about 22 - 24C (75-80F) in the summer, and the summer air temps reach 25-30C+ ! June and September are lovely months here. In the fall, the air is crisp and the fall tree colours make for beautiful hiking and canoeing.
A propane furnace and a woodstove keep it cosy in the cooler weather, central air conditioning, the lake breeze and ceiling fans keep it cool in the heat of the summer.

The cottage is about 2 hours from our house, (which is about an hour away from Toronto) and the two properties can be combined for a perfect town & cottage country swap! Here's the link to our house -
If you love nature, and are looking for a quiet getaway; and to see/explore the natural beauty of Ontario cottage country you'll love our special spot.

A few notes and "house-rules":
All visitors must be well aware of, and practice water safety.
This is our family's second home, and is NOT a "party cottage" ... the people that go there are seeking peace and quiet, and respect the tranquility of others and nature.
There is limited availability in Ontario's peak summer months as it's used by our family.
No visitors or guests please (other than agreed to)
We expect guests to clean before they depart and leave things just as they found them :)

More about us

  1. We're a semi-retired professional couple with 2 grown-up kids, and we LOVE to travel and explore new places; including successful swaps to Australia, the US, the UK, Portugal and within Canada. We travel as a couple, and on occasion with our adult kids or another couple.

  2. We take pride in our stylish home and peaceful lake house; we'll be respectful guests and neighbours that will leave your home just as we found it ... and expect same courtesy with potential exchangers.

  3. We are open to non-simultaneous swaps as we have a vacation home.
