We live on the first floor of a house in a central Vancouver area.
Front lawn: Large front lawn with a hill. Nice to sit out front and have a picnic or people watch. The hill is fun for kids.
Front Porch: Covered. Equipped with two rocking chairs and a small table. Great for people watching. Our street is a main bike commute so it is quiet since there are not many cars.
Living Room: In the front of the house. View of the North shore mountains and downtown (although it is harder to see in the summer because of the tree foliage). DVD player along with many dvd's to choose from. Large sitting room - couch and lounge chair. Many games and books. Bay window with large desk and printer.
Bathroom: Small bathroom, but has both a shower and bath.
Kitchen: Larger kitchen with kitchen table and full kitchen utilities. Also we have a high-chair if needed.
Bedroom 1: Main bedroom. Queen bed with dressers.
Bedroom 2: Baby room with crib, rocking chair, and baby toys. But the room can easily be turned into another adult bedroom since we have an extra queen size mattress in the basement we could put in there. Backyard: Sunny and private. equipped with a table, chairs, and lounge. Laundry: Washer and dryer in the basement.
Also bikes available (great biking city).
Parking: Parking space in the back alley.
Our house is located a few blocks away from the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Village. Shopping, cafes, parks, public transport, and downtown are all within 5 to 10 minute walks. Vancouver is a beautiful destination; you can visit the snow-top mountains and walk along a sunny beach all within the same day.
We are centrally located along one of the main bike thoroughfares in the city, providing easy access to most of the city's attractions by bike.
Downtown Vancouver is a 5 minute bike or 15 minute walk away. Our house is halfway between two main cultural areas in the city, Cambie St. and Main St. Both have abundant shops and restaurants. If you like coffee we have at least 10 coffee shops within a 5 minute walk.
Queen Elizabeth Park: a 15 minute walk with a fantastic view of the city and North Shore Mountains.
Public transport: Buses around the corner. Trains to the airport and downtown 3 blocks away.
Hillcrest Park Public Pool: Built for the 2010 Olympic athletes as a training site and now open to the public. Indoor/outdoor with kid pool area.
North Shore Mountains: Amazing hiking/mountain biking/100's of trails.
Vancouver Island: Just a ferry ride away and absolutely stunning. So much to do on the island surrounding islands, including visiting the capital of British Columbia: Victoria.
We will be visiting family in Holland for a month and are looking to swap homes with someone.
Both of us are active, healthy people with many interests and hobbies. We have plenty of biking, hiking, camping gear available for use.
We also have a weekly delivery of farm fresh vegetables available during the summer for guests to use.
We are very friendly with our neighbors and they would be more than happy to offer advice and help you familiarize yourself with the city. We will also provide maps and advice on what to do and where to go.
