About our home

Welcome to your next getaway in the vacation hotspot of BC's Okanagan Valley! Our open-concept home was built in 2018-19 at the quiet end of a street in the distinguished Silver Star Foothills neighborhood, 10 minutes east of Vernon. Our respectful family would treat your home with the care we give ours.

From the spacious deck or relaxing hottub watch eagles and hawks soar by day and the city lights sparkle at night. Make S'mores over a campfire looking out over Swan Lake and the mountains beyond. Sit by the front yard waterfall or play miniput beside it. Use the home gym in the garage and take the bikes for a spin on nearby trails: 2 adult (medium size) and three kids (2 teenage girls and a 10 year old boy).

Our home has 3 bedrooms, 2 baths on the main level with a walkout basement family room. The master has a king size bed and ensuite washroom. The other two main floor bedrooms have a double and a single bed. The beautiful kitchen on the main level has a pantry, large island and all the cooking and dining utensils you'll need, with a BBQ on the deck. The three living/family rooms have comfortable furnishings and two of them have cable TV/Netflix.
The basement den has Wii and a DVD player. WIFI included.

Connected to the family room downstairs is a guest suite with living room (incl. an electric piano and an air hockey table - this is Canada, of course), a bedroom (double bed) and a den (double bed, but no window). All areas could be swapped together, or either the main area or suite individually. If both main home and suite are used together, the layout is ideal for 2 small families or 1 large family (up to 8) with older children who could stay in the suite. The suite is connected to the main house through the den but also has an outside entrance, so there is privacy between the two areas. The neighborhood is very safe, but to be certain, there is a monitored home security system we'll leave you with easy instructions for.

Washer/dryer/racks available, and we can recommend a cleaning service if you prefer. FYI, one half of our basement has the exchangeable suite noted above, and the other half (under the kitchen, not the bedrooms) is a private suite currently rented. There's excellent insulation between the two and the young couple there are great tenants, so you'll hardly notice them.

We are open to pets, but please consult with us first.

Our 5-seat VW Golf can be included. We could even leave it at the Vancouver airport for you to take the spectacular drive inland through the mountains.

Where is it?

A short walk takes you to tennis courts and a new playground for kids. We'll leave our hiking guide book out to explore easy outings in the neighborhood (Grey Canal Trail or BX Falls) or challenge yourself on any of the 40 longer hikes in the region.

From December to March head 15 minutes east to Silver Star Mountain Resort, where you can ski/snowboard for as little as a $30 Cnd./gondala lift ticket (3:30 - 8:30pm). Even March skiing is great that high in the mountains - our neighborhood is often 5-10 degrees warmer than the resort.

There's golfing from February to October in the sunny Okanagan, ranging from $40 to $160 (Cnd.). In the summer Silver Star boasts some of the best downhill mountain biking in the world. This is also wine country, so tour 'till your heart's content, or go trail riding on horseback.

Vernon has great restaurants to suit any taste, big-box stores to get ample supplies and plenty of boutiques for your interests. We're 30 minutes north of Kelowna International Airport (YLW), 5 hours east of Vancouver and 5 hours west of world-famous Banff National Park. The area has old mining/ghost towns you might dare to poke through, and a couple hours north is the famed 'Last Spike' location of Canada's cross-country railroad.
