About our home

This is a new home in a planned community in the city of Vernon, BC, 1 block from Paddle Wheel Beach at Lake Okanagan and half an hour from the Silver Star Ski Hill and 1 hour from Big White Ski Hill. The ground floor of the home has a spacious and comfortable Great Room with a modern fully equiped kitchen, comfortable sitting and dining areas, all with views of Lake Okanagan. The master suite and study are on this floor with level access from the attached garage and front entry. The study has a queen size "Murphy" bed. The basement has 2 additional bedrooms, a media room and games room with walk out access to the back garden and patio. We have satellite receivers for 2 TVs, one on the ground floor and one in the basement. The development includes a fitness facility which includes an outdoor pool and adult spa, all about a 2 minute walk from the house.

More about us

We are 2 retirees, originally from New Brunswick, who love to travel and experience new places. We have travelled to Europe, the Middle East, China, New Zealand, Hawaii and much of North America. We enjoy summer and winter sports (which is why we have chosen to live in Vernon) including biking, hiking, swimming, kayaking, boating, skiing and skating. We have done 3 exchanges, to New Zealand, New Brunswick and Vancouver, all of which were very successful. Linda is of English/Scots/Irish ancestry and we would like to explore the British Isles, preferably in the spring of the year in 2012. In the fall of 2011 or 2012 we will be going to eastern Canada and would like to add a short stay in Washington or New Your City onto the trip. We are thinking of spending Christmas in Montreal in 2011 so would be interested in an exchange for then.

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

Vernon is a small city next to two incredible lakes and minutes from two downhill ski areas. You can explore the ski areas at www.skisilverstar.com and www.bigwhite.com. This area is known for its champagne powder and mild winters. Summers in the Okanagan are hot and sunny. The area is a year round resort, with all water sports and golf available in the summer months. The international airport at Kelowna is actually partway between Kelowna and Vernon and less than 45 minutes away from the house. Shopping and restaurants are as close as 2 to 10 minutes away from the house.
