About our home

We have a beautiful tudor style home, built in 1943, and located in a quiet residential area of north Oak Bay, minutes walk from the beach. The main floor has a snug for watching TV; living room with open log fire, piano and music centre; main double bedroom (double bed); bathroom; dining room with seating for 8 around a large table; award winning design kitchen; sunroom with dining table to seat 8. Out to the sundeck (with BBQ) and into peaceful garden with mature trees, pond & fountain, seating areas, flowerbeds and lawns. Upstairs has large bedroom (double bed) and large children's bedroom (single bed and makedown sofabed)which leads through to a single bedroom (single bed)under the eves with skylight. The basement is partially converted with a gym, office, washing machine, dryer and plenty of storage. I enjoy gardening so the gardens are well kept and beautiful all year round. Something always seems to be flowering. Please enjoy our home and its quiet location.

More about us

  1. We have reserved our summer holidays at work for July 25 - August 9, 2009. August 1-9 we have booked a place on the beach at Ucluelet, west coast of Vancouver Island, Canada. This leaves us July 25-31, 2009. Any takers? We would like to stay in BC if possible and ideally would like Courtney/Comox/Campbell River so that we can explore Strathcona Park. However we are open to ideas for west coast USA or the Okanagan or mainland BC. We are also looking for a place to ski next winter - Dec 2009 to April 2010: Whistler, north Vancouver, Kelowna, Kamloops. We also like to weekend swap on Vancouver Island or the mianland and find them ideal for exploring a new area. Douglas works for the BC Government in environmental protrection & Karen is a small business manager at a bank. Alex is 16 and Mark is 14. We live a busy life, taxiing our children to and from soccer, music, art. We enjoy the outdoor life - cycling, skiing, walking in rain forests. We have camped extensively through Europe as a family. We also have a cat that looks after itself but would like to have its food bowl kept full.

Where is it?

North Oak Bay is quiet residential area, north east of Victoria and it's a 10 minute bus ride to downtown Victoria. The bus stop is located only 2 minutes walk away, at the top of our road. In the other direction the bus takes you to the University of Victoria. We live 3 blocks (5 minutes walk) from Willows beach, a lovely 1km sandy beach with drift logs and rock pools. There is also a play park and beach cafe. Estervan village is 5 minutes walk. It has a great cafe, pizza takaway, toy shop, top notch restaurant and other shops. Our local mini-supermarket is a 10 minute walk. From our home you have some lovely walks and easy access via our great bus system to the whole of Victoria and surrounding area. Victoria is a great place for all the family and for seniors. The climate is mild all year round and we are know as the 'city of gardens'. There is plenty of places to visit downtown with children. You can go whale watching, kyaking, sailing, fishing, or cycling along the Galloping Goose or Lakeside Trails (we have 5 bikes available with locks). Golf is big around here and Uplands golf course is within walking distance. There are dozens of golf courses within 30 minutes car ride. Come to Victoria at anytime of the year and you will not be disappointed. Airport 30 minutes by car; ferry terminal to Vancouver 40 minutes; ferry terminal to Seattle or Washington state is 20 minutes by car. We would be happy to swap cars.
