About our home

What I love about our comfortable house is it's many windows, handsome oak floors and charming cove ceilings.

The kitchen, dining room, living room, playroom and powder room are on the main level. We recently updated the kitchen with a beautiful cork floor and stainless steel appliances for a dramatic look. The kitchen is in the front of the house with two large windows along the counter work area. The large living room with wood burning fireplace has three floor to ceiling windows which look out into the backyard gardens. The dining room has a sliding door which opens onto the ground level deck with BBQ and comfortable patio furniture. The playroom/TV room, with a large bay window, is located off the side of the kitchen. Besides the large quantity of toys and games, it also contains the laundry facilities.

Upstairs there are three bedrooms and a full bathroom. The master bedroom has a southern exposure with a king size sleigh bed, antique furniture and walk in closet. The second bedroom has a bunk bed and the third bedroom a twin bed.

The bottom level of the house has another bedroom (double bed) as well as a large rec room with a gas fireplace and three piece bathroom.

The backyard has many gardens and green space. We have a treehouse and old-fashioned two bench swing. There is a two car garage behind the house which has a basketball hoop and many outdoor toys.

More about us

  1. We are a family of five. Peter and I (Peggy) are self employed with a home based computer software company. We have three well behaved boys: Adam (15), Conrad (14) and Matthew (9). We love to explore new places and meet new friends. When we are home, we host international students from the university. We like to be active together outdoors-biking, hiking, canoeing, camping but also enjoy time indoors with a good book, movie or board game. We have fun entertaining family and friends. Our comfortable house is perfect for families with many toys, books, bikes, etc to entertain children.

We are a non smoking family.
No pets but happy to look after yours.
Car exchange possible (Mazda MPV 2000-seats seven).

July and August swaps do not need to be simultaneous.

We have completed fourteen swaps which were all very memorable. We love home exchanges....they're an awesome way to travel!

Where is it?

We live in the municipality of Oak Bay which is a highly desirable area of the city. Greater Victoria has a population of 300, 000 and is located on the southern most tip of Vancouver Island. Victoria is a great Canadian city as we have the mildest weather and beautiful natural surroundings. We are a ferryride away from both Vancouver and Seattle. Victoria has many beaches, parks, golf courses, hiking and biking trails, swimming pools, the World famous Butchart Gardens and Royal British Columbia Museum. Local ski hills include the world class Whistler/Blackcomb (on mainland) as well as Mt Washington (on the island) . Within a two hour drive is some of the best windsurfing in North America on Nitnat Lake.

Our own little neighbourhood is wonderful because it is bordered on four sides by parkland. To the north is the university (UVic) , to the south the community college (Camosun) , to the east is a recreation centre (gym, weight room, aerobics, tennis, etc) and two golf courses (one public, one private) and to the west is Mt. Tolmie park which has many walking trails and the best view of the city. The city centre is only 15 minutes away by car.
