About our home

We live in a 1912 arts and crafts era house in the Fairfield area.
Our home has a master bedroom and two offices that convert to bedrooms on the second floor. The master bedroom has a small west facing deck that overlooks gardens and is a great place to finish a summer day with a glass of wine or cup of tea. A deep claw foot tub in the upstairs bathroom encourages lazy soaks. The house has a small front and very private backyard, with a barbeque, fire pit and deck. Our living room faces the east and is a comfy place to read the morning paper. Through glass doors is our dining room, with a fireplace and west coast artists’ wildlife prints on the walls. The west facing kitchen has a gas stove, dishwasher, micro-wave and many contemporary appliances. Another bathroom with claw foot tub is on the first floor, along with a washer and dryer. Our home is light and airy, casual and comfortable.
We drive an all wheel drive, fully automatic, Toyota RAV 4 – which gives great mileage in town and allows us to explore off-road.
We have a cleaning service and a gardener and would continue that throughout the exchange.

More about us

  1. We truly enjoy west coast living. We appreciate the urban life of Victoria and Vancouver and we love to escape to the wild beaches of the west side of the Island or the high alpine of Strathcona Park. The lifestyle ranges from opera to hiking, kayaking, winery tours, whale watching and fine dining. Just a one hour drive north to the Cowichan Valley provides the opportunity to experience west coast native culture a the Quwustsun Cultural Centre: http://www.quwutsun.ca/.

We have exchanged in the past and are looking for people who care as much about their home as we do about ours.

Where is it?

We live 2 blocks from the sea and Beacon Hill Park. It is a 5 minute drive to Victoria's lovely downtown and many tourist attractions, great restaurants and shopping. Vancouver and Seattle Washington can be reached by a short float plane ride or by passenger ferry. In our treed neighbourhood, people still say hello when walking to to the shopping area 2 blocks away called the Cook Street Village. Here you will find a bakery, wine, book and grocery shops as well as a great neighborhood pub.
