About our home

We have an exchange for Europe and Hawaii for 2019. We are open for weekend exchanges in Vancouver or nearby areas. We are open for suggestions for 2020.

Semi-Detached (duplex) home located in beautiful Victoria BC on Vancouver Island. Our home is located in a natural setting across the street from the ocean. On our side of the street we are three homes to the ocean. We have both ocean and mountain views. The rear of the property backs onto Saxe Point Park. Just five blocks west of our home is the dockyard of the Royal Canadian Navy's Pacific fleet and drydock. You will always see interesting ships sail by the house on the way to the nearby base. Dine in the atrium (we know it as "Dad's Cafe") overlooking the ocean and mountains. No waiter to tip! Linger at your table as long as you like! Come, your table is waiting!

We are open to weekend exchanges in BC in 2019. Available for exchange in other areas in 2020.

More about us

  1. I work for the provincial government and have done so for over 20 years.

  2. My son David (21 in 2018) works for the regional health authority. He has been on exchanges with me since he was 7. He may travel with his fiance.

  3. We love swimming so beach vacations are our ideal. I love historical stuff. David is curious about what is different in the places we visit.

Neighbourhood

Our home is perfect for those who want to get away from it all, but still be able to have it all within 10 minutes should the mood change. We have had a couple of repeat exchanges so people must be happy with our location. We have one of the two nesting eagles pairs in Victoria in Saxe Point Park. You can view into a bald eagle's nest from the house. Occasionally you can also see seals, whales and otters from the home. You can hear the sound of the ocean while you sleep. On calm summer nights you can hear seals "slapping" the water to scare fish.

We are only 8 mins to downtown Victoria by car and about 15-20 minutes by bike. Convenient to public transit, bike trails recreation centre and shopping. The neighbourhood area is a destination in itself with either a beach or park at the end of every street. Easy access to the local attractions of Victoria BC. Some attractions are within walking distance.

Victoria has several good theatres. All the theatres are within 15 mintues. Great museums and art galleries within minutes too. Seasonally world record deep snow base available for skiing or snowboarding at Mount Washington 3hrs north...if you're up to the drive or you can take the commuter bus.

We welcome children but fear the immediate environs are unsuitable for toddlers and small children. There are just too many stairs, cliffs and high places to fall from.
