About our home

Our house is an 80 year old house that has been furnished with antiques fitting the age of the house. It is a clean and spacious two-storey brick house with a semi-furnished basement. We have a fenced-in back yard that has a mature perennial garden with a gold fish pond. Additionally, we have a room in the basement that has been designed as a eastern art room for practising yoga, martial arts, or a general work out. There are oak floors throughout with area rugs. In addition to our beautiful house, our neighbours are friendly and willing to offer advice regarding local points of interest.

More about us

  1. My wife (Beth) and I (Rob) are both high school teachers. We have been teaching science for about a dozen years. We are looking forward to travelling and we have taken the 2006-7 school year off. We have not done a home exchange before but are keen to try what sounds a great way to see another country as a resident. We enjoy the arts, fine dining and good wine (in moderation). This will be our first time travelling overseas.

Where is it?

Our house is conveniently located within minutes of the downtown core of the city of Windsor, Ontario population 200 000. The downtown offers a lively nightlife with many clubs and theatre. Windsor is the southernmost city in Canada and is located minutes away from two of the busiest crossings to the United States (a bridge and a tunnel). Our city is conveniently located so that we are able to drive to major urban areas such as Chicago (five hours), Detroit (minutes), Cleveland (three hours), Toronto (four hours), Niagara Falls (four hours), Ottawa (eight hours) and Montreal (nine hours). Additionally, we can drive to cottage country (within a few hours) where we can experience the Canadian wilderness. Cottage country is beautiful in the fall with the autumn colours and an amazing winter experience with skiing and many hiking trails.
