Our house was custom built in 1999 as our country home away from the city and overlooks Lake Winnipeg, the largest lake in Canada outside the Great lakes. It has a large central room with adjoining bedrooms, sun room and entry room. The large deck extends the length of the cottage and overlooks the lake. A separate patio with a BBQ is located behind the cottage. An additional guest-house with separate cooking and toilet facilities is also located on the property. We have bikes, a canoe and a kayak at the house.
We are Marilyn and Dave, a recently retired couple. We were formerly a social worker and a fisheries biologist. We have not done a home exchange before but have heard positive comments from friends who have. Dave has roots in the Peterborough, England area, and we would like to facilitate an exchange to that general area. We would like to arrange something for summer, 2007. A 3 month exchange might be nice, but the length of time is flexible. We would expect to arrange an exchange some way in advance in order to get to know our fellow exchangers via email first to see how best we can facilitate their stay in Canada.
Our home is located in Hecla/Grindstone Provincial Park, on Hecla Island, less than 2 hours north of Winnipeg, Manitoba. The island is connected to the mainland by a causeway. Gull Harbour Resort, the Hecla Marina and public beaches are within walking distance. One of Manitoba's finest golf courses is also within walking distnace. The island is forested, and we have hundreds of trees on our property. We like to bike, hike, swim, canoe, kayak, and observe birds and wildlife.
