About our home

Hello (Ni Hao)! We have an unusual Beijing apartment, in one of the quietest areas of the city. The apartment is a penthouse duplex, over two floors, with big skylights on the top floor and a small rooftop terrace (for sunbathing and barbecues). It’s one of the nicest, and smallest compounds serving foreign expatriates, close to the popular Sanlitun (shopping, restaurants and nightlife district) but overlooking leafy Ritan Park in the charming diplomatic area from the 1950s (big brick embassies on wide streets). There are two bedrooms downstairs, along with a modern kitchen (two ovens), a bar and big living room. The entire top floor is open, but can be screened to use as multiple bedrooms and/or working space. There are two desks, and wireless throughout the house.

More about us

  1. My wife and I have been visiting and living in China on and off for over two decades, and know the city well. This is one of the nicest places to live - quiet, atmospheric, with a wonderful park at your doorstep and all the conveniences close by.

Where is it?

Our apartment is in Fangcaodi neighborhood, a wonderful central Beijing area close to shopping, great restaurants and the Sanlitun nightlife area, but in a quiet area that is great for walking and biking. The subway is only 10-15 minutes walk, or 5 minutes by bike. Right across the street is the Emperor’s old park, Ritan, which is wonderfully landscaped and has a lake, kid’s amusement park and more. Also across the street is Jenny Lou’s, a local market that stocks all those specialties from Europe and America, as well as local groceries.
