Lovely 2 Bedroom Apartment in heart of Beijing's fashionable Sanlitun District

We live in Beijing's Sanlitun area in the eastern side of the city centre. While still overwhelmingly Chinese, this area is where many of the city's ex-pat community live. All of the foreign embassy's are located nearby. Our street is a kind of hub for this community with an excellent international supermarket called April Gourmet directly opposite our flat which sells anything you could want. We also have an excellent French butcher downstairs and a you can buy fresh bread from 3 different shops on our street. We also have two cafe's as well as a Moroccan and Italian restaurant downstairs on the ground floor our building. In the summer all these cafes and restaurants have many tables and chairs outside on the wide pavement and so our street has a really bohemian feel every evening for 6 months of the year with people eating and drinking 'al fresco'.

But it's not all about the foreigners! This is China and we are also surrounded by Chinese restaurants. We have our breakfast at least three times a week at our local Jiaoza place. Jiaoza are the delicious steamed pork dumplings that Beijing is famous for and they cost nothing! This is what I will miss most when I leave here. Directly opposite our flat is a huge Szechuan (a Chinese province) restaurant and just around the corner is a great Beijing Duck restaurant.

Sanlitun is where the heart of Beijing's nightlife is located. Five minutes walk from our flat is a very fashionable and trendy shopping centre called Sanlitun Village. This being Beijing, a place of stark contrasts, this ultra trendy shopping centre full of international brands stands right next to the famous Yashow market, a shopping mall with 5 floors of fake goods of every conceivable kind. In this area there are also many different bars and restaurants to choose from.

There is also a Bank of China branch on our street for all your monetary needs.

We are very centrally located an all of the main tourist attractions are close by. The nearest underground is 15 minutes walk away but taxis are very cheap in Beijing. I would recommend cycling around the city. There are great cycle lanes everywhere. It would take about 30-45 minutes to reach Tienanmen Square and the forbidden city depending on the traffic. 45 minutes if you walk then take the underground or 30 minutes to cycle.

The best attraction however is out of town. The magnificent Great Wall of China is a 60 - 90 minute drive from Beijing depending on which section you visit. If you like the great outdoors you will love the great wall with endless opportunities for hiking on the wild stretches. You could walk for days along the wall and I promise you would never get bored with the spectacular scenery. There are many ways to visit but every Sunday morning a local hiking group called the Beijing 'Wall'-kers organise a 4-5 hour hike with all transport organised so that is one of the best ways to see the wall. There is also a group called the Beijing Hikers that lead walks in the surrounding countryside. You can also hire a driver to take you for the day. We can help you organise all of this. See below!
