About our home

Shanghai is a great spot for you to explore China from before heading north to Beijing for the Olympics. Shanghai is a very user-friendly super-city, one of the great cities of the world. All street signs are in both Chinese and English, as are all train stations. The metro system is very efficient and will take you almost anywhere very quickly. There is also a maglev system that takes you from the airport at 330khr. Cabs go past our front door every few minutes so you don't need a car and cabs are very cheap. The one card pays for everything, trains, buses, cabs. You recharge the card at any metro station, and never have to buy another ticket. Our apartment is very modern, spacious and comfortable, with a gym and pool just across the street.

More about us

  1. I am a freelance writer and my wife is a teacher working at one of the nearby International bilingual schools. I am Australian and she is English, and we were married only recently and wish to travel to Dorset so that I can meet the family. I was very surprised upon my arrival in Shanghai and had a lot of my preconceptions about China blown away. What amazed me was how wealthy the Chinese in Shanghai are, how handsome and tolerant the people are, and how modern their city is.

Where is it?

Pudong is in the new area of Shanghai, which is barely five years old, so if you were expecting to come to a cramped, congested city then you will be surprised. There is little traffic in Pudong, and the streets are wide boulevards with ultra-modern buildings dotting the countryside. There are two local supermarkets within easy walking distance and the metro is only three blocks away. Getting around is easy. If you are on line 2, then no matter what station you go to your platform home will always be platform 2, so interchanging is a breeze.
