About our home

We have a clean and comfortable 4-bedroom apartment on two floors. There are two bathrooms, a large kitchen, and a balcony with BBQ. It's in a building with only 5 other apartments, so it is very quiet. We have a part-time ayi (maid) who can be available to help with laundry, dishes, and general cleaning.

More about us

  1. We are a family of 5 who have lived in Suzhou for 4 years. Andrew is a college counselor and Eileen is a teacher-librarian. We both work at an international school. Our daughters are aged 16, 12, and 7. We love to travel, live with the locals, and try new things. We haven't tried a home exchange before, but we are looking forward to the possibilities it may offer. Also, we are confident that those who visit our home in Suzhou will be pleased with its location and everything our neighborhood and city have to offer.

Neighbourhood

We live in an area of Suzhou that caters to expats. There is a wide range of activities, malls, and restaurants within a 30-minute walking distance. There are also bike stations close by where you can rent a bike and explore the city. JinJi Lake, where weekly light-and-sound shows are held, is a 5-minute walk away. Downtown Suzhou, with a history of over 2500 years, is just a 15-minute, 15-yuan ($2.00) taxi ride away, and includes buildings like the Suzhou Opera Museum, where you can watch live traditional performances. Public transportation is very useful and cheap. There are many Chinese-style entertainment destinations such as KTV Karaoke and bowling alleys.

Suzhou has many beautiful and ancient gardens, temples, and canals. Several "water towns" are a short drive away. There are many places both modern and ancient to shop.

The SIP Suzhou train station is 15-minutes away by taxi. From there you can take the high-speed train to Shanghai (20 minutes) or Nanjing (50 minutes).
