About our home

We live on the 25th floor of a 32 story building. The apartment is very spacious and has lots of light. We are south facing overlooking the South China sea.We have a king size bed and a single bed. We just moved in and hope to have another bed for guests. There are two bathrooms with showers. In the lobby of the building there is a store that sells almost anything. There is also a few places to eat.
From Xiamen you can travel all over the Fijian Provence as well other parts of China. Gulanyu island is about 10 minutes away and is a very picturesque place with old European architecture.

More about us

  1. We are an American/Turkish family. I (Anne) am a teacher at an international school and Orcun (my husband) is an architect. Our daughter is 3 yrs old.We recently had another baby, our daughter Lulu will be traveling with us as well. We have lived in Xiamen now for 18 months but were previously in Istanbul where we did do one successful home exchange. This past summer (2011) we did another successful home exchange here in Xiamen. We really hope that we can do it again but aren't sure how many people want to come to Xiamen, but it is a hidden gem in China.

Neighbourhood

Xiamen is a beautiful city unlike most cities in China. It is spacious, clean and easily livable. There is almost any type of food to eat here with some very good local Chinese food. It was rated the most liveable city in China and I agree as there is very little pollution, the weather is great although hot and humid in the summer, and easy to get around as well as still very inexpensive.
