About our home

Our home has two large bedrooms with ensuites separated by the Kitchen and sitting area. A large covered terrace provides an ample dining and lounging area and overlooks the pool and gardens. A covered Patio and shower are on the lower pool side level as well as laundry room and bodega. We have both mountain and ocean views. The ocean breeze during the day and mountain breeze at night keep temperatures moderate. The one hectare lot is bordered by a small river and natural jungle that attracts a multitude of butterflies, birds and monkeys. Parrot and Toucan sightings are common and we see the famous Blue Morpho butterfly daily. The garden features many tropical flowers, palm and fruit trees - Lemon, Lime, Banana and Coconut.

More about us

  1. We are a retired couple in our 60's. We were both were teachers in Ontario, Canada and still make it our permanent home. We enjoy travel and outdoor activities. We have experienced a number of wonderful home exchanges in Newfoundland, Switzerland and Tuscany. We are heading to New Zealand and then Great Britain in the near future. Since our home in Costa Rica is a vacation home, we have complete flexibility as to time and length of an exchange.

Where is it?

We are on a quiet road in an area of fine homes and friendly neighbours; many are Canadians. A short drive brings you to the village of Ojochal which has shopping, small resorts and a number of fine restaurants. A 30 mins. drive takes you to larger towns; Uvita to the north and Palmar to the south. These have Banks, Internet Cafes and medical facilities. The Coastal Highway is excellent and provides easy access to several beautiful beaches, including Marina Ballena, a National Marine Park. Diving in this area is superb and the two of the best wildlife Parks in the country are found in this part of Costa Rica: Manuel Antonio to the north and Corcovado to the south. The capital city of San Jose is 4 hrs by car with an excellent shuttle service available. Costa Rica is a stable and prosperous nation. They have a democratic government and no military but instead spend tax revenues on education and social services. The result is an excellent medical system and high literacy rate. Costa Rica is best known for eco-tourism with 1/4 of its total land area kept as nature preserves.
