The 1st prestigious family neighbourhood of Jaco, hosting a multitude of international expatriotes living year-round. Some of the neighbouring homes are rentals so there are chances of meeting some other tourists. Taxis can be flagged down on the street to get to the bustling town for as little as $1.50. (2 mins.) Parking with electric gates for 2 vehicles and the property is all enclosed for your security as well as having a guard at the entrance of the residential district. Enjoy the walk to town or the beach early morning at 12 mins. from the house or take the bicycles. There is a fruit stand and convenience store and bakery at 5 mins. walk. A local fisherman shows up at the door at least twice a week with fresh fish. There is an intercom system so you don't have to open the door to just anyone. The pool is taken care of by Arnoldo and the cleaning service will be once during a stay of 1 week or 2x weekly for longer stays. Costa Rica or "the rich coast" is very lush from May to Jan. then gets dry and hotter from January to April. There is an abundance of animal life that will enchant you, even around the house, where we often have iguanas visiting the yard and Scarlet McCaws feeding in the almond tree next door. The beach is of volcanic sand so it is not white..rather beige. It is a very popular surfing beach but swimming is possible and boogie boarding is fun. Sunsets are wonderful in summer, having a refreshment at the Bohio bar on the beach. There are over l00 restaurants in Jaco with something for everyone, from sushi to Thai, Italien, and of course the Costarican food which I find is the best in Central America. Many other beaches within 1 hr. drive, and at l0 mins. a marina, a golf course, and at 1/2 hr is the nicest hotel in Costa Rica, which boasts a Roman style amphitheatre with a drop-dead view and fine french dining. Our hosts will be available if you need assistance.
We are Canadians french and English in our 50's and have lived in Jaco for 20 years, Having watch it develop, we have become involved in the community at some levels. Regis has a car rental company and I have been a property manager for l7 years but now I've handed that over to the people who look after our home in our absence. Our daughters have both graduated from Highschool here and have now moved on to other levels of education and work in back in Canada which permits us to get out and travel to see them. We also have an apartment in Boquete Panama. We are able to do non-simutaneous exchanges for this reason. We have travelled extensely before the child-rearing years, including working in Papua New Guinea for 2 years, and wish to enrich ourselves again.
