About our home

Our "Casa Toro" is located in the rainforest of Costa Rica. The house was build three years ago on a 2 acre lot. Surround by mountains and rivers. We have all kind of fruit trees, a vegetable garden, a tilapia pond. To get to our place you will have to drive 2 1/2 hours from the San Jose airport. We have a guard who lives in a carriage house in our property, but our house is pretty much alone. NO NEIGHBORS!!! The house have three bedrooms, two in the first floor and one mezanine that holds the master bedroom and a seating aerea, we have back and front porches, a beautiful kitchen with an island, a bar and everything that you need, dining room, living room with high cealings and chimeney, and a mud room. I love my house! It's a perfect place for people who want to just chill out and relax. I don't have internet or cable, but you can find an internet cafe in Venecia. We also have some weeks available for rent , $600 per week.

More about us

  1. I grew up in Venecia, the nearest town from Colonia del Toro, moved to the US 13 years ago. I have two kids (16 and 12) and my husband is a general contractor here in New Jersey. My family still lives in town (parents, 4 sisters, 12 nephews and nices). My parents are the ones who keep my house so beautiful! They're always planting new trees and take care of the vegetable garden. Everybody in my family speaks English so if you need a ride from the airport, some info about the surrounding aereas they'll be happy to asist you. I can arrange to have someone coming to do your laundry and clean the house for $ 30 per day.

Where is it?

Colonia del Toro is a small town, 3 minute drive from our house. I usually drive to the nearest "big"town, Venecia, a 10 minute drive, to get all of my fresh produce ! In Venecia you can find many stores, supermarkets , drugstore , restaurants. You will need a car! Arenal Volcano it's a short 50 minute drive www.arenal.net and poas Volcano it's 1 hour drive. 10 minutes away you can relax in the "hot springs" of Recreo Verde, www.recreoverde.com , where you can also do some canopy . A 15 minute drive will take you to one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Costa Rica www.catarata-del-toro.com ,bring a raincoat, water proof -hiking shoes and a bottle of water )you can drive 20 minutes to Los Bajos del Toro, a beautiful town nested between moutains and enjoy some trout fishing , the owners of the place will claen and cook the fish for you. A 45 minute ride will take you to La paz Waterfall ,www.waterfallgardens.com , I'll recomend to visit this place 100% .If you're a mountain bike lover this is your place! There're so many things to do around, explore rivers, lakes, caves, or just chill out in the porch with a cup of cofee and your favorite book. Three stray dogs lived with me in the property, but they live outside and they're super friendly. The guard is in charge of feeding them so you don't have to worry about anything.
