About our home

We have a beautiful family home in the beach town of Tamarindo, Costa Rica. Our home actually includes the main house, guest house, maid's house, separate workshop, pool and Balinese gazebo. The property is very private on a quiet road. The main house has a large master bedroom with very high ceilings, a beautiful ceiling fan and French doors opening onto a patio. We have a king size bed and a large flatscreen TV with DVD/CD player. A jacuzzi tub, large glassed in shower and two elevated glass sinks over a stone countertop complete the bathroom's zen feeling. The living room/dining room area is a very spacious, open area with extremely high ceilings. We have a very large standing plasma TV and DVD/CD player in the living room, as well as a stereo system with IPOD dock. Our kitchen has countertop seating for four people and is just off the dining room area. The home's second bedroom has a queen size bed, is very bright and modern and has a walk in closet with built-ins. The attached bathroom has a shower and bathtub, and also connects to a modern den with an entertainment center, including large flatscreen TV with cable and satellite dish, DVD/CD player, karaoke machine, WII game, and turntable stereo. Through the den's archway and down two stairs is a connected room with a desk and sofas that open up into one single and one double bed. The main house also has a guest bathroom and a bodega/pantry. The guest house has a king-size bed, a living room/kitchen, a den/art room that also has a double sleeper-sofa and two bathrooms. The workroom has a picture window that looks out onto a tropical setting. There is also a maid's quarters and we have a full-time maid who lives on the property. We have a beautiful gazebo to relax in, that has light and a ceiling fan. The pool is maintained by us, and we have a truly stunning garden. We gorgeous wood gate is electric and opens up to a car port for one car. Our home is full of personal touches that make it very unique and really stand out.

More about us

  1. My French husband Jean Marc and I (from California) are just stepping into our 50's and are raising our 13-year-old daughter in Tamarindo. We originally bought our home 8 -years-ago while on our first vacation here. During the next two and 1/2 years, we travelled to Tamarindo 10 times and realized we loved it here. We started putting our daughter in school in Costa Rica over five years ago- part time at first, and during the rainy season we would return to the US. We finally decided over 3 years ago to sell everything we had in the US and make Tamarindo, Costa Rica our permanent home. Through the years we have done a fair amount of remodeling and adding on to our home and have made it quite a unique and beautiful compound. We have also built another hidden oasis called The Breeze - a luxury resort with five separate modern villas surrounding a magnificent cascading split-level pool. We run our resort year-round.

Where is it?

We are about a 5-7 minute walk to the beach. We live on a quiet road and the only traffic we encounter are the cars going in and out of the neighborhood. We are around the corner from a gym that can be joined weekly or monthly. Tamarindo is a small town that started out as a fishing village. The town has a variety of stores to shop in, a number of great restaurants with varying cuisines, and a fun nightlife in the bars, restaurants (where music is played), and the one disco here. It is a very relaxed town and just about everything is within walking distance. There is a lot of daytime activity in our town - from great surfing for beginners to experienced surfers, wonderful deep-sea fishing, fabulous diving, lots of horseback riding trails and great dirt roads for ATVing and mountain biking, a variety of yoga, T-Chi and similar classes, etc. Aside from traditional medicine in Tamarindo (there is a doctor's office and an emergency clinic in town), you can find holistic medicine and other non-traditional treatments here. Just behind where we live are wonderful back roads to take nature walks and discover the howler monkeys hanging out in the trees. Our town host a wonderful variety of wildlife - from stunning exotic birds to amazing geckos, and monkeys galore. Tamarindo is a very charming and magical town. There is a wonderful US accredited international school called Country Day (CDS) that is a 20-minute drive from our home and is kindergarten through high school. Another school that is presently applying for the IB accreditation is called La Paz and is working towards being K-12 (if they aren't already). Tamarindo is a very international community with it's residents coming from each continent worldwide.
