Our home is a spacious, sunny, 3 story semi-detached house in one of the best neighborhoods in Pula. It has 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, and 3 large terraces, as well as a private parking and a small garden. The third story is Jason’s office and storage area, and the only area of the home that we would lock. The kitchen has a fridge, a dishwasher, a microwave, a coffee maker, a blender, and even a crocpot. There is a washer and a drier, WiFi, and flat screen TV with international channels (HBO can be added upon request).
Shops, bars and restaurants are at walking distance, and the main historic attractions such as the amphytheatre are only 5 minutes by car. The house is only 1.5 miles (2.5 kilometers) away from the beach, and the marina is even closer in case you want to rent a yacht, a boat or a jet ski.
A catamaran connects Pula to Venice and the trip takes only 3 hours.
The region of Croatia where Pula is located is called Istria, and it offers a number of fascinating places to visit, such as:
-Rovinj, a gorgeous small town build on an island in the 7th century, now connected to mainland, has many art galleries and excellent restaurants
- Porec, a town that is famous for its Unesco world heritage site basilica Eufrasiana
- Morovun, a gem of inland Istria, surrounded by forests famous for truffles, and nearby Groznjan
- The Church of Saint Mary near Beram with amazing 15th century frescoes painted in its interior
- Brijuni national park, 15 minutes by car, followed by a 20 minute boat ride
- Plitvice national park, only 3 hours by car
Katarina (Kat) is Croatian and works as an English teacher in a high school in Pula. Jason is American, from Goleta, CA, and works as a freelance writer. Their two sons are 4yr old and 9mo old.
Kat loves to cook, travel, read, and has recently discovered she also loves to do gardening and upscaling furniture.
Jason is passionate about travelling, beach volleyball, sports in general, reading, and socializing.
Both Kat and Jason have travelled extensively, and are trying to pass the travelling bug to their two sons, as well as teach them to respect other cultures, love and preserve the nature, and be kind and open minded.
Veruda porat is a quiet neighborhood of family homes, yet it is only a few minutes from the city center as well as the sea and the parks. There are three markets, a bakery and several restaurants and bars only a few minutes on foot, though our favorite restaurant, Farabuto, is about 3miles (4.5km) from out home.
