“The stone cottage was clean, comfortable, and so cute that we’d have to say it was our best lovehomeswap experience yet. Peter and Rhona were the perfect hosts giving us the lay of the island and treating us like family. We would return again and again if possible. Thank you! ”
Peter and Rhona's reviewsAs a host (6)
“We had the most wonderful stay at Rhona and Petes home, it had everything we could have possibly wanted and more. You could tell that over the last 10 years both Pete and Rhona have put so much work in to making their home so special and comfortable which is why enjoyed our stay so much. They have made their garden in to a vibrant oasis, which was a place we could totally switch off and have the time to apprciate the most beautiful surroundings. The location of thier home was so ideal for exploring the incredible island; only a 15 minutes bike ride to some the quaint towns on Hvar where there was something for everyone, whether that be swimming or indulging in some croatian delicaces. At the end of the stay our family decided that Hvar island had to be the most stunning and still relitavley undiscovered place we have ever visited. We would all like to say a huge thank you to Pete and Rhona who welcomed us so warmly and provided us with the perect place to stay in order to simply enjoy where they call home.”
“You can enjoy the real Croatia at this wonderful home. We felt so at home cooking and hanging out based in a tiny village it was a delightful experience. Close to some beautiful beaches we hired a boat for a day and explored the local coastline. The hosts are lovely and have many great recommendations and you've got to have a drink with the locals at the nearby bar. Highly recommended for something off the beaten track. ”
“We had a fabulous two week stay at Peter & Rhonda’s very authentic Croatian cottage which was comfortable and well appointed. Vrbanj is a very quiet village in the centre of the island - a bike ride to the very pretty towns of Jelsa, Vrboska and Stari Grad but it’s better to have a car for trips to Hvar town which is a little far by bike and serviced by an infrequent bus. Peter and Rhonda were a delight - very communicative and helpful with contacts. ”
“Hvar is a beautiful Croatian island 2 hours away from Split. Rhona and Peter have a small house in a village top of the hill near Starigrad where you arrive with the ferry. The village is absolutely not touristy, a typical Croatian village with stones houses. The house has no vis à vis, which makes it a great location. We enjoyed watching the stars at night as you have almost no luminous pollution. The village has a bar and a good restaurant and a small shop. Down to the beaches is a 10-20 minutes ride, depends on which one you choose to go to. Beaches are beautiful, no sand but clear and blue water, many fishes and things to see while snorkling. Starigrad has local fruit and vegetable market, supermarket, chemist and doctor and many good restaurants, as well as Vrboska. We rode to the other side of the island through an ancient tunnel where you have to wait the light turns to green and then you feel like a hundred years back! We had a great stay. Rhona and Peter welcomed us very friendly, their house is simple but full of charm. You can feel they have been working on it for the last ten years, which makes it even more beautiful. ”
“We had a perfect week in the cottage. It was beautifully renovated so it was very charming but also comfortable. We spent more time at the cottage than we thought because the garden was fantastic for us and the children. The terrace is big and sunny and the gazebo offers a shady place to relax from the heat, and we ate outside everyday. The island of Hvar is much less touristy than we thought and we felt like we were still in an undiscovered part of Croatia. We found great children-friendly beaches with easy parking, shade and good beach side restaurants. Rhona and Peter were great hosts, being really flexible when we changed leaving dates last minute, and they braved the busy ferry terminal on our arrival day to met us and show us the way to the cottage. We highly recommend the cottage and the hosts.”
