“We had a delightful home exchange experience with Petra and family : we were granted with a well personalized welcome and Petra took the time to explain everything in the appartement and surroundings before leaving us. The appartement itself - definitely rich in history - lies in a central yet quiet area of Prague, only few blocks away from the "Babies Tower", with two convenient stores and all required services at less than two (yes, two !) minutes walk. Following Petra\'s advice, we also had the chance to try a very good (and cheap !) restaurant in the neighborhood and discover several less known sites to visit with kids who enjoyed them. That all made some memorable holidays, not only in Prague but also at major sites in Czech Republic since Prague is, luckily, located almost right in the middle of the country, easily allowing round-trip or overnight visit around (just to quote a few : Karlovy Vary to the West, Cesky Krumlov to the South, Bohemian Switzerland national park to the North, ...) Back home, our house was found exactly as how we left it, to the details ! In short, if you were hesitating, do not : choose this destination and these home exchanger\'s, you should not regret it !”

Petra's reviews
As a host (6)“We spent a week in this apartment and everything was as described and expected. Very well situated, not in the really centre, but with good connections, we came almost everyday walking to the city centre. The communication with the owner was excellent.”
“Very well located in a nice quiet street, short walk to subway just a few stops to center (which is 30 minutes walk through interesting streets). Vinohrady is a nice lively and safe area with restaurants, bars, parks, etc We enjoyed a very nice contact with Petra. And of course, Prague is a fascinating town! we loved its architecture, palaces, churches, synagogues, etc. very interesting place to get acquainted vith the tumultuous history of central Europe....Just a small advice for music lovers: there are a lot of concerts in nice places, but sometimes the quality does not match the price, even in reknown institutions...”
“We had a wonderful time in Praga during Christmas holidays 2018 and the apartment is well positioned close to the old town, far only 2 or 4 metro stops. We have riched Old time square and Charles bridge in 40 minutes walking slow. The apartment is very quiet and furniture is 1940s style as described. In Christmas period, it is warm and confortable, ideal for 3 people. We found supermarket and good restaurant round the corner of the building. Petra was not present but had taken care of us every day from Usa. We are very happy to host her family next September in Italy Adele”
“We had a fantastic time in Praghue thanks to the home exchange we did with Petra Dominkova. Vinohrady is a nice and quiet neighborhood, with parks, shops and restaurants close by. Per metro you are very fast in the old city with their beautiful squares and buildings. The apartment is big enough for 3 people. We enjoyed to take care of the very friendly cats.”
“We arranged a happy non simultaneous home exchange with Petra and Vaclav. They came to Spain in March and we went in July 2008 to Praha. They were very helpful and gave us a warm welcome, they even thought of bringing a present for us and for our kids. Their gave us all the info we needed and recommended us a handful of good restaurants and places where locals eat (good meals, cheap prices). Their home was very conveniently located in a nice and safe neighbourhood and everything was as planned and described.”
More about us
-
We are a couple (45+) and our daughter Luisa Viktoria (currently she is 9 years old). We are working within the academy, focusing on the history and theory of film. My husband is also an employee of a National Film Archive and I myself own an e-shop with design toys. We have been using "Home for Exchange" quite a few years already and made a few exchanges within Europe (Amsterdam, Porto, Lisboa, and Barcelona), both, simultaneous and not simultaneous, and we enjoy this unique experience a lot!
We highly recommend you to watch "Honest Guide" tutorial videos on Youtube, that will give you a lot of tips on how to explore Prague without being bothered by high prices and various offers that are ready for tourists. Enjoy Prague as if you are a local! -
We have a cat, that, however, is between March and October in the countryside. If you have cats as well, we might take care of our respective cats, in case we arrange a simultaneous exchange! Just please keep it in mind if you are allergic since you can never get rid of their hair!

Our daughter is in 4h grade at Montessori school so a half of one room is equipped accordingly - toys, games, books (partially in English) etc. If you are coming with the younger kid, please let us know what you need, we will be happy to provide you with anything that may come handy (including, of course, tips for staying here).
If you need anything more, let us know.

Where is it?
Neighbourhood
Our apartment is situated in the residential neighborhood "Vinohrady" that is, in fact, in the downtown of Prague (2 subway stations from the Wenceslas Square and 4 from "Staroměstská", both counting as the very downtown of the city of Prague). Besides, there are two tram stations; by the tram, you can go to "Oldtown Square" or "Malá Strana" in 20 minutes. It is a calm and clean neighborhood where you can find everything you need for living: shops, restaurants, parks, churches, playgrounds. Nearby is huge shopping mall "Flora" with the multiplex cinema and IMAX. In the square Jiriho z Podebrad (just around the corner), there is few times a week farmer's marker when you can purchase local grocery products, vegetable, fruit, and flowers. There are some interesting places to visit just around our apartment, e.g. the church by Josip Plecnik at Jiriho z Podebrad square, Jewish Cemetery, or Zizkov TV tower, where is also a restaurant situated 93 meters above the ground with a wonderful view on Prague.
