About our home

We live in the old historic part of Farum close to the church and a very nice monastery with a beautiful park. The monastery is situated to the
lake. In there You can bath and go canoeing. (we do have one with lifewests and everything). You can bring it to the lake on 5 mins. because you can put some wheels on it. There is a lot of possibilities to go in canoe and have picnic by the lake. We have the necessarily rescue equipment.

Our house is equipped with some new Classic Danish made furniture and some old
and antic furniture.
And all in the house is in a good shape.

At second level we got the rooms for Kasper and and a extra small bedroom, and a bathroom.
1. floor we got dining room, kitchen and sitting room.
In ground floor we got the hall and a room for Jule. Bedroom for Helle and I included our office place with door to the garden and
terrace, a bathroom and a service room with wash machine, dryer etc.

In the garden we got 2 terraces, one for morning sun and one for afternoon-sun and the sun is in the garden until 8 a clock when it's summertime. In the garden we got normally Danish vegetation with fruit trees, flowers etc.


More about us

  1. We are a family of 4 who are living in the north of Copenhagen, the Capitol of Denmark. We are 2 adults and 2 children. My wife, Helle is 43 years old and working as a teacher of a private school in Farum. Our daughter, Julie 14 years. Our son Kasper 10 years and myself, 43 years old. Working as a engineer in a Danish consultant company, working with Client advising and project managements.

    We have swapped houses 6 times before. Twice with families from UK, a family
    from Sweden, and twice with families from France and in 2002 with a family from the Basque, Bilbao (Spain).

Where is it?


Our town, Farum, is a village typically Danish with a lot of detached houses. Our house is situated with a view of the lake and there is a little footpath from our garden directly to the park of Farum Monastery and the lake. Our town is situated between two lakes and forests
The community has got 19000 inhabitants and the town was placed between the two lakes Furresøen and Farum lake with forest and a nice nature
around. You can swim in both lakes. In Furresøen we have a little sandy beach and in "our" lake we got a little place 3 mins. away from our house
where we go bathing. If you want the real water you can go to Hornbæk at north 40 mins. away with nice sandy beach and if you go east, 20 mins away in Øresund, the sea between Denmark and Sweden. The northern part of Zeeland has got is one of the most beautiful areas in DK.

The capitol, Copenhagen has got all the facilities of a big city. You can
go there with the subway from Farum, 40 mins or by car, with al that troubles that give because Copenhagen haven got enough space for parking.
Art museums, Tivoli, Castles etc. is available and of course shopping in a possibility.
Visit also the old harbour, The Royal Navy harbour witch now are used for public area, with thr new opera.

You know Denmark as a little country, so if you want you can visit Sweden, by the new bridge. You can visit Odense with H. C. Andersen, at Fyn, also available by car or train in 2 hours by the new bridge.
