About our home

In the ecovillage Dyssekilde (see Dyssekilde.dk) there are no fenced gardens and all is open, this means we have close and friendly contact with our lovely neighbours. Dyssekilde is one of the oldest ecovillages in the country and a very charming piece of Denmark, located near the ocean 60 km north of Copenhagen with easy traintravel to the city. The village has a local healthfood store, a recycle room, a cafe, local farmers marked, school, church, music venue and a grosery store. Our home here in Dyssekilode is at the same time brand new and already cosy and lived in. 178 m2 all incl. 3 bedrooms sleeps 6+4. We build it our selves (with a little help from our friends) and mostly we've used recycled or left over materials. Never the less the house has turned out to be really delicate and gorgeous: Wide Dinesen massive douglas floors, arched windows, mazzanines and firemans poles, modern kitchen and winter garden, bath tub, vinyl turntable, piano and guitars, a soothing view of the field and sky from the sofa and a modern wood burning stove. Its a classic danish brick house made from mostly natural materials such as chalk and clay that makes the walls breathe, ensuring a healthy indoor climate.

The area
We are located 50 minutes by car - 80 min by train- north west of Copenhagen on a peninsylla with the charming old fisherman town Hundested 7 km to the west with lots of activity on the harbour for both kids and grown ups. A popular sommer hangout for copenhageners and families. A ferry takes you across the water to Rørvig, another popular sommertown.
Roskilde and the exciting viking museum is also 50 min away.

The beach is best reached by bicycle which you can borrow (10 min). Car and walking is also possible, and it offers a stunning view of the coastline towards Knud Rasmussens Museum in Hundested. And best of all is the water and all the recreational joy it offers. We like swimming, playing, underwater hunting, surfing and chilling.
What else.. Oh Yes we have chickens that lay eggs. If you wish you can take care of them - and the eggs, while you are here.
