About our home

My boyfriend and I live in a small apartment in a great area in Copenhagen. It's a lively, young and urban area with a lot of upcoming new restaurants, shops, cafés and nightlife.

It's an old charming apartment with wooden floors, high to the ceiling, big windows and white walls. Our apartment has two rooms, one bedroom and one living room. The bedroom has a view over our beautiful garden/patio, and it's very quiet and relaxing. The living room has a sofa that easily can be used as bed. We mainly have wooden furnitures, mostly second hand and heirlooms.
We have a rather new kitchen, which is very well-equipped due to the fact that Mathias studies food science.
The windows isolates great, and keeps the apartment quiet at night.

We have a very small toilet, unfortunately without a shower. Our shower is in the basement. We often go down together in the morning with bathrobes and flip flops - romantic and rock and roll :)

In the apartment you find an old record player with records from David Bowie, The Beatles, Bon Iver, Joni Michel, Arcade Fire, Chopin etc. Feel free to listen!

More about us

  1. Mathias studies food science and is really into wine and food, specially biodynamic French wine and new Nordic food. He has worked at Noma, and has collaborated with great chefs and gastronomes in Copenhagen. He is very happy to give good advise on where to go out to eat and drink!

Thora studies TV-jounalism and is working as an intern on DR, the national public service channel. Currently she is working on a documentary film.

We've been together for three years and both of us enjoy culture - music, architecture, movies and art - and of course food and wine. We do our best to make our home a warm, charming place where guests feel welcome.

Neighbourhood

"Nørrebro" - our area - is one of the most diverse neighborhoods in Copenhagen where students, trendsetters, immigrants, young families and kids live side by side.

There are great restaurants in walking distance (we are happy to give recommendations). Because of the many young people living in the area a lot of new galleries, cafés and shops are opening at the moment.

The nightlife is great with a mix of old bodegas, clubs and cocktailbar. 5 minutes from home there is a nice cinema with a mix of new and smaller films.

We have several supermarkets and greengrocers on the street corner, and a great bakery. We collect fresh vegetables from local farms every Wednesday, and you are more than welcome to use this while we are away.

We live right next to "Assistens Kirkegården", which is a parklike graveyard where H.C. Anderson, Soeren Kierkegaard and other great danes are buried. The beautiful and diverse graveyard is used as a park.
We also live ten minutes from the lakes of Copenhagen, where there is a great view, and really nice to go for a walk.

On our street there is a huge playground for kids, and we have a great garden/patio with a smaller playground and garden furnitures, grill and beautiful plantation.
