About our home

We live in a charming, terraced house designed by a well known Danish architect with green surroundings and a shared park, where the children play and neighbours meet up for a talk. Our house is a cosy and functional two story house with a kitchen, corridor and living room in the ground floor and three bedrooms and a bathroom on the first floor. In the basement floor there is a teenage department with a separate room and a bathroom.

The house is surrounded by a lovely garden. In the morning, the wooden terrace just outside the living room is a lovely place to have breakfast. It also serves as “an extra living room” in the summer. In front of the house there is a tiled forecourt with potted plants, which is a perfect place for dining in the evening sun.

The shared park with plenty of trees and swings for the children provides an opportunity for outdoor activities, ball games and meeting up with neighbours. The house is situated very close to shops and 10 minutes from the train station.

More about us

  1. We are a family of five: Jens (50), Anne (52), Mathilde (19), Alberte (17) and Elvira (14). Jens works as an architect for a government agency caring for the royal castles. Anne has her own consultancy company working with civic engagement and communication and is working on a phd project.

Our youngest daughter, Elvira, attend the local public school five minutes away and spend her spare time playing handball. The eldest girls go by bicycle to their high schools.

This is our first home exchange. We love travelling and look forward to visit your home!

Where is it?

Our neighbourhood is friendly, quiet and green. We live only two minutes away from the Damhus Lake, home of swans and ducks, and the Damhus Meadow, which is a nice and lively recreative area with good opportunities for exercising by jogging, walking or cycling along the paths. Right across the meadow you also find a museum of the Danish artist Henry Heerup.
The green paths around the Damhus Lake and Meadow are connected to a wide ranging system of paths, that allows you to bike or run safely all the way to Utterslev Mose and to the beaches south of Copenhagen.

Vanløse is just 5 km. from the centre of Copenhagen, close to the attractions of the City: The Tivoli, the Queen’s Castles, The Little Mermaid, parks, museums, restaurants and shops. You will reach it all in 20 minutes by Metro (24/7), subway or bus from Vanløse, which offers very good connections by public transport. Or you can bike safely to the centre in 30 minutes - you will find a cycle path all the way.

In Vanløse you also find opportunities for shopping and dining and a library and art-house. Close by you can go swimming at Bellahøj, which can be reached very easily by bus or bike.
