CURRENTLY SEEKING MIAMI SWAP CHRISTMAS/NEW YEAR 2016/17
Welcome to our home and to Copenhagen, the capital of Denmark, for a number of times voted 'best city in the world' by the British magasin Wallpaper.
Our home is a bright spacious apartment in the family friendly and vibrant Nørrebro. 130 square meters with 2 balconies, modern furniture and great atmosphere. Shopping, cafes and restaurants just around the corner.
Nørrebro is a relaxed and extremely central part of Inner Copenhagen, and one of the most hip and colourful neighborhoods here. Nørrebro is also one of the most livable areas in Copenhagen and the people and families living here make an eclectic mix from all parts of the world. The infrastructure is well thought out, making it an ideal base for your stay in Copenhagen.
The area has a lot of public and private schools, playgrounds, parks – all in all a very kidsfriendly environment. Nørrebro also offers good restaurants, nightlife, music, shopping, and creative capital among other aspects, and you've literally got everything you'll need within 5 minutes' walk: there's at least six different supermarkets, a wealth of groceries, green shops, butchers and bakeries and all the restaurants you'll ever need, both budget and connoiseur, and finally a metro taking you to other parts of town - or to the airport in 19 minutes!
To the west you have one of the oldest and largest cemeteries in Copenhagen, major parts now laid out as a park. Here you can take a stroll or jog, visit HC Andersen or Niels Bohr or bring your family for sunday picnics if the weather permits. To the north you have the youthful cafe- and boutique part of Nørrebro, sporting small designer shops, great cafees and Nørrebro Brewery, the pride of town. To the east you have the three small lakes, once forming the outer rim of medieval Copenhagen, now a place equally suited for joggers, dog walkers, lovers and everybody in between. If you continue eastwards, this is also the route to the old, central part of Copenhagen where you'll find Torvehallerne, Tivoli, The Town Hall Square, Amalienborg and all the other more touristic elements of Copenhagen. To the south you'll enter the part of Copenhagen called Frederiksberg, featuring the Zoo, the kings' old castle and park and a nice, upmarket vibe.
Our place is a modern, bright and cosy 130 m2 apartment, easily accessible on the 1st floor in a yellow brick building "Sukkerhuset" ("The sugarhouse") dating back to 1872, then a sugartop factory. Facing a small open square to the south and a green, well kept green courtyard/garden to the north, you'll be sure to have all the daylight you want, even in winter. Winters are warm and cosy in this flat by the way, as there's central heating in all rooms and a newly furnished heating central in the building.
The master bedroom faces south and has a balcony, a lovely place to enjoy a drink accompanied by the last rays of the sun - or, if you fancy, have lunch in the shade on a hot summers day on the other balcony, leading from the one of the two bedrooms.
The kitchen is probably the room you'll spend a lot of time in, as it is the central room in the apartment, spacious yet intimate and warm, and a good place to hang out and discuss todays' impressions while food is being cooked. All appliances are high quality and the kitchen is, as the living room, furnished with a harmonious mix of old and new, well designed furniture. There's quite a large collection of books here, a lot of them in english, should you fancy something else than surfing or streaming movies on the (well functioning) internet.
The bathroom is well composed with shower, washing machine and tumbler. While we can't offer you a bathtub unfortunately, there's plenty of hot water to shower for ages, should you fancy.
This place is being lived in by our family of four - and a cat. You're our specially invited guests whom we'll do anything to acomodate, making your stay here a memorable one.
