“We highly recommend a holiday in Solveigs super home in Copenhagen! A unique building in a happening area, close to the beach, the airport and the aquarium - and city centre. We felt very welcome and enjoyed 10 days, buying a Copenhagen card to see "all" the sites. Perfekt for families, as our small girls swapped beds, toys and bikes and helmets. Couldnt hoped for a better place to stay! And such nice hosts! When we came home again, we couldnt even see that we have had guests while we were away :-) - Perfect!”

About our home
Here's your chance to stay in a Danish architectural icon by the world renowned Bjarke Ingels (BIG architects).
Perfect base for couples, small families and single travelers who wants to explore Copenhagen.
HOME: Our 100m2 luxurious and bright apartment at "The Mountain Dwellings" by Bjarke Ingels Architects combines the splendours of the suburban backyard with the social intensity of urban density. The Mountain Dwellings appear as a suburban neighbourhood of garden homes flowing over a 10-storey car park and has won the 2008 World Architecture Festival Award for Best Residential Building.
Our apartment is light and airy with huge window areas from which light is pouring in from sunrise to late afternoon. The bedroom accomodates 2 people and the rest of the place consists of a living room, a well equipped kitchen in open plan, a kid friendly playroom with toys and sleeping space for two children and a utility room of with washer/dryer. We enjoy living in a unpretentious mix of Danish design classics and yard sale finds making it a cosy and modern style family home.
But the true gem of our home is our 60 m2 private, sunlit rooftop-garden. Here you will be able to enjoy outdoor leisure in total privacy with an amazing calm and peaceful view.
AREA: Ørestad (also known as Copenhagen S) is an architectural oasis surrounded by nature and within 10-minutes access to Copenhagen downtown via the 24 hour metro system. Ørestad is built around nature, water and architecture and since the development started in 1995 many families and students have moved into the architect-designed buildings. Close by is popular Christianshavn with its canals, Michelin-star restaurants and cobbled streets and Islands Brygge with maritime activities such as Copenhagen Habour bath and a unique urban vibe. While you are here you have to visit the Freetown of Christiania just four metrostops away. Copenhagen is the bike capital of the World and people here bike everywhere: so rent a bike and go explore the city that we love to live in.
TRANSPORT: Ørestad is noted for its attractive location and excellent infrastructure. It is a convenient base for exploring the entire region: easy access to Sweden and CPH Airport by train and Copenhagen city centre by metro which connects you with central Copenhagen in just 10 minutes. The apartment is only a few minutes walk from the train and metro, which is operating every 2-5 minutes 24-7. Ørestad is a newly developed area with a huge shopping centre (Field's) and the protected natural area Amager Common is right at our doorstep making the area ideal for biking/jogging/blading.
You will get the best of two worlds here. Great for biking and running. Great for kids - the city park is full of playgrounds. Great for lovers of unique architecture.
ARCHITECTURE: If you are interested in new architecture you should check out the awardwinning residential buildings VM Houses and 8Tallet also designed by architect Bjarke Ingels (BIG). And be sure to visit the DR Concert Hall by architect Jean Nouvel which has a stunning interior. The spectacular Tiegtens Kollegiet by Lundgaard & Tranberg and Hotel Bella Sky by 3XN as well as several buildings by Henning Larsen Architechts are all great examples of contemporary Danish architecture right around the corner.
