About our home

Our place is very bright and airy. In the one end of the apartment there's a bedroom with a king size double bed (160 cm. wide) and in the other there's a kids room with a children's bunk bed (160 cm. long). The couch in the living room has accommodated many happy guests. We also have a couple of extra mattresses. There's a combined dining and living room, an eat-in kitchen, and unlike most turn- of-the-century Copenhagen apartments we have a large bathroom with a bathtub and a separate shower. We have 2 kids, so you will find lots of toys :) Please be aware that smoke from our downstairs neighbour comes into the apartment, which may be an issue if you have allergies.

Other than that we can offer you a sunny barbecue spot on the balcony in the afternoon and evenings in the summer, when the weather is with us, wi-fi, a washing machine and dishwasher, and great neighbours.

More about us

  1. Am hoping to spend week 42 in Croatia or Greece.

We're Iain and Mette and our 10 year-old girl, Inda and 7year-old boy, Emmet. We love our spot, inside and outside, and we will be more than happy to help guide you around Copenhagen, so you can have a wonderful time while you're here. So far we've rented our place out a lot on Airbnb and done a handful of fantastic home swaps (Norway, Denmark, New Zealand, Sydney, Toronto). We get a kick out of changing reality with another family whether it's in the Danish countryside or abroad, and we look forward to exchanging experiences with you! We are very respectful of other people's space and take very good care of the homes we are lucky to borrow.

  2. Our passion is traveling and experiencing other places and cultures while spending time together. We love food, architecture, vibrant cities and serene nature. It doesn't necessarily have to be far away. A cup of coffee at the local café or a beautiful day in the countryside makes us happy.

  3. Iain works as a project manager in a social housing association and Mette is a sustainability consultant. We try to live sustainably at home, too, so you will find eco and non-perfumed products at our place. Also, we have become the happy parents and grand-parents (according to our kids) to 2 gerbils, Sydney & Bandit, which we will bring with us, or you can babysit, if you so desire.

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

We're in the middle of Vesterbro with great cafés and bars, galleries, small shops with great stuff, and a vibrant atmosphere in general. Our place is on a wide street (closed off in one end which means not very much traffic) that becomes a park in the summer with people hanging out playing table tennis, basket, soccer and picnicing in the sun. Be aware that vibrancy means noise at night, mainly on summer weekends. You can sit in the built-in couch in our corner room and take it all in - or you can chill with a cup of coffee on our balcony facing the green closed-off back-yard with a small playground (that is used by and reserved for a daycare sometimes during week days).

Vesterbro is close to everything; the metro is 5 minutes away (around half an hour to the airport), and nearby you will find the city center, the lakes, 'Havnebadet' and 'Havnelagunen' where you can swim in the harbour, the zoo, parks, a couple of great playgrounds, Tivoli, Strøget (the pedestrian mall) and there's actually also a shopping mall nearby.
