About our home

Our terraced house is located only 20 min from the centre of Copenhagen but lies surrounded by nature and with easy access to the historic castles and cultural attractions of northern Zealand.

The house has 3 bedrooms. The main bedroom is in the basement and on the first floor there's a teen-bedroom and a pre-teen bedroom :) We have beds for 4 people altogether, but it is possible to have 1 or 2 more people sleeping on extra mattresses.

There's a big open kitchen and dining area, connected to the living area. The first floor has a restroom with a shower and in the basement there's a second restroom with no shower. From the kitchen and the living room there's access to a 40 km2 terrace outdoors. In summertime this becomes part of the livingarea as well, with both sun and shade during the day. The garden also fits a large trampoline in ground level. In the front of the house there's a lovely morning terrace.

The backyard goes directly into a small park with a large lawn and forest with paths for walks or bicycle rides in many directions - for example you can easily bicycle to "Dyrehaven" and "Eremitageslottet". We have 2 gravelbikes and 3 regular bicycles (two adults and one for children). Car exchange is also possible.

Very near to the house is "Moelleaaen", a stream that is great for canoeing. A canoe can be rented for the day at Frederiksdal.

Features

More about us

  1. We are a family of four. Michael (40), Julie (43), Carla (14) and Selma (9). We love to travel and experience new cultures and meet new people. We lived for five years in Malaysia and Singapore and returned to Denmark 8 years ago this summer (2019). We also have 2 pets, a Border Collie (Loui) and a cat (Molly).

  2. Michael is a VP of product at a software company in Copenhagen. Julie has been working as a graphic designer for many years, but has recently taken a U-turn and is now a childrens physiotherapist. Carla is in eight grade at a school in Virum, and Selma is in third grade at a school nearby.

  3. We love both to be active and to relax on our holidays. We like to hike and be outdoors, but we also enjoy to see cultural attractions and to spend a day at the pool. Mostly we like to make new friends and enjoy the local life and cuisine.

Neighbourhood

We live in a nice quiet residential area, with a few stores within walking distance. There are a lot of green areas and forest all around. Just 5 min. away by foot you'll find the local train stop. From here you can travel to central Copenhagen in 25 min. The train will also take you to Lyngby city centre with shops, restaurants, cinema etc. Travel time 5 min. Buses are also available close by and in general public transportation is good.

Within bicycle distance you can find the open air museum (www.frilandsmuseet.dk), "Dyrehaven" (Deer Park -
large green park, horse riding and amusement park), beaches, lakes and historical buildings (for details visit www.visitlyngby.dk). And of course all the attractions of Copenhagen is only 15 km away and the historic castle of Kronborg is just a 30 min drive further north. The beautiful art museum Sophienholm is just 10 min drive away and Louisiana museum of modern art is 23 min north.
