About our home

No availability in July and August.

Our cottage is situated on a beautiful, quiet lot, with big trees and lots of privacy. For citizens of Copenhagen this area is loved and valued for its nature and beautiful beach.
We own this place together with my parents Kjeld and Birgit (an active couple in their seventies). Because we spend a lot of time here ourselves, we only exchange it on rare occasions or if my parents want to get away off season.

Having said that you may enjoy our well equipped cottage, ideal for families who like to get around on our bikes, play or relax in the big garden or just spend days at the beach (5 min. on bike) or the forest. The cottage has 3 bedrooms, a closed wood stove, open kitchen and a light Scandinavian design, easy to maintain and user friendly. It is equipped with 2 terraces and has 'open doors' to the garden. Enlarged living with new big windows a couple of years ago.
Newly isolated and with a high quality wood burner our place is really comfortable in off season. The colours of the garden and Asserbo forest should do the rest to make your autumn visit memorable. Various possibilities off season.

Maria's reviews

As a host (2)

More about us

  1. We are a couple with adult kids no longer living at home. Sometimes one or more of them will join us, but often we will travel alone as a couple. We have arranged 20 successful swaps so far. We aim to find places with a homely atmosphere and people who like the concept as much as we do.
The Liseleje cottage we co-own with my parents Birgit and Kjeld (active people in their seventies). They sometimes want to exchange with that off season.
Many of the reviews on this site have been made by guests who stayed in our previous home in Amersfoort. Information on garden and location and such is therefore no longer applicable but our hospitality has not changed. Reviews from 2019 are related to our new home in Utrecht NL).
In daily life we work as a management consultant and as a grammar school teacher. We enjoy reading, films, traveling, good wine and dining and going to the theatre. We are all careful and considerate with the places we are in and will treat your house as our own.

  2. We specifically enjoy the cultural part of home exchange; the personal contact and information you exchange about your location that you would never get by conventional travel. This way we have had so many great experiences and met so many nice, welcoming people.

  3. We love flee markets, ceramics mid century design, museums, architecture and parks.

Where is it?

Close by you will find the idyllic old village of Liseleje with shops and restaurants at the seaside. Alongside the coast of Kattegat you will find nice villages, dominated by either fishing traditions or local cottage/b&b tourism on a small scale. Lots of art galleries, places to eat, nature to explore.

Sightseeing: Within 1 hour you can visit Copenhagen's design shops, old streets or Tivoli. Closer by you will find one of the royal castles in Hillerød or visit Hamlet's place in Helsingore. Trips to Sweden or Legoland are also possible.

Cool bars
There are some small cafes in Liseleje itself, but the place is not really know for any nightlife.
Cozy cafés
We like the bakery's and the little yellow ice stand, you can eat delicious ice cream outside
Retail therapy
Frederiksvaerk is handy and close by for many different daily products. The bakery in liseleje itself is nice. Fish we buy in Hundested or at the tabour of Frederiksvaerk. For fun shopping we visit either Hilleroed, Helsingoer or Copenhagen
Bit of culture
Kronborg, Helsingör, Tivoli, the little mermaid and the round tower are just a few of Copenhagen tourist sights. My favorite areas for quirky retro shopping is upcoming Noerrebro.
Walks in the park
Asserbo plantage, see maps in the house for details. Hyllingebjerg for a quiet beach and stunning view.
Spot of exercise
Asserbo Planage is nice for walking, cycling and running. The beach obviously.
Day tripping
Gilleleje habour is nice for lunch, lots of places for fish lovers.
