About our home

Our wonderfull, family friendly and spacious home is from 1910 and carefully renovated through the years. We have a large garden facing the forest, so close to the nearby zoo, that you can hear the lions roar! The neighborhood is quit and relaxed. Grocery shopping, restaurants and shops around the corner. Walk or bike to the city center along the small river and through the park. Car and/or bicycles can be part of the swap. Helpful neighbors in case you need assistance.
On the ground floor we have a new kitchen/dining room, two living rooms, an office/single bedroom, playroom and bathroom. On the 1. floor there are three bedrooms and a bathroom with a shower. From the master bedroom access to a large porch. In the basement a teenage bedroom with queen size bed, washer/dryer room and bathroom with shower.
In the large garden there is a dining area with a grill, a large trampoline and swings, strawberries, apple trees ect. Directly outside the kitchen there is a small porch where we usually eat breakfast in the summer.
Our efficient cleaning lady comes once a week and will take care of cleaning after your stay,
We love our home and will treat yours with the same care and respect.

More about us

  1. We are a family with five kids - all of them sweet boys aged 5, 7, 16, 20 and 23 - the two oldest have moved out. We haven't traveled much for the last couple of years, but long to see more of the world. In most of the school holidays we stay at our vacation house on a small island in Denmark (this house can also be part of a swap, if you like nature, rabbits :-) and the quite life on an island). That means that we can offer non-simultaneous exchanges, if you'd like.

  2. Kasper has a degree in political science and worked many years in public administration. He is the headmaster of a small charter school. After many years as a management consultant in the private sector, Maud is in working in a nonprofit social organisation (Blue Cross Denmark). Our oldest son, Mikkel, is a university student and Jonas is a carpenter apprentice, while Rasmus, Buster and Hannibal are in school.

  3. The hole family loves the sea, to swim and sail. We spend a lot of time playing with the kids and hanging out with family and friends. Kasper likes to use his hands doing woodwork and fixing all sorts of things at home. Maud likes to cook, read, work in the garden and point out things that Kasper should fix.

Where is it?

Neighbourhood

Odense is the third largest city in Denmark. There are numerous museums, great places to shop and eat, sport facilities ect. In the city center there are often events and festivals. Very close to our home is a great zoo (https://www.odensezoo.dk/en) and a large public park facility. Within walking distance you find the Funen Village (https://denfynskelandsby.dk/en/).
Being the second largest island in Denmark, Funen is surrounded with wonderful sandy beaches, perfect for children, only 20-30 min drive from our home.
Close by is also a large shopping center with a cinema and restaurant, play land for kids ect. (http://rosengaardcentret.dk/en/)
If you are interested in European history Funen is a great place to see some of the many historic castles, for example Egeskov castle (https://www.egeskov.dk/en), Valdemar Castle (https://valdemarsslot.dk/) or Nyborg Castle (http://en.nyborgslot.dk/)
If you travel with children you must go to Legoland, only about an hour from Odense. We also recommend a trip to LegoHouse (https://www.legohouse.com/en-gb/explore/what-is-lego-house)
You can easily take a day trip to Copenhagen to see the Little Mermaid, Tivoli and the Queens Castle, it is 1½ hour drive from us.
We will love to give you some ideas of what to do, depending on your interests. We promise you, there's much to see and enjoy :-)
