About our home

Our house is an old farmhouse that has been renovated over the last years. There is a lot of light and space, and you can go directly to the terrace and garden from the living room. In the garden there are swings and a trampoline and room for a barbecue over a bonfire. We have five sheep and a bunch of lambs which you do not need to take care of - the neighbour will give them water. At the top of our hill we have build a shelter where you can enjoy the view over the valley or sleep outside in the bright summer nights.

More about us

  1. We are a family of 5, with the 3 kids still staying at home. This may soon change as the 2 oldest have just passed high school. Apart from the sheep we also have a dog (will be at a kennel during holidays) and two (outdoor) cats. We parents work at the close by agricultural research centre (part of Aarhus University) and at the national agricultural advisory service in Aarhus. We have been travelling a lot with longer stays in Tanzania, Bolivia and Ecuador, and we really like to experience how people live in other environments and cultures.
This year we plan to join with another family - this is why we are looking for a house to accomodate 10 persons. The other family lives in Lystrup, a suburb to Aarhus, and their house is also an option for exchange. Our sons wish to test some of the Tour de France mountain routes - this is why we wish to visit Southern France or Northern Spain.

Where is it?

The house is situated in the countryside in the valley of the Nørreå river. In the village 2-3 km away there are several shops and an outdoor swimming pool. Approx. 10 km away you can reach some nice lakes, where it is possible to swim or just go for a walk. Fishing is possible in the closeby Nørreå or 15 km further away in the larger Gudenå river. The house is situated directly at the national biking route No. 2 going from Hanstholm to Copenhagen, and the sorrundings gives plenty of opportunities for biking on small undisturbed roads. The city of Viborg is 20 km away with its old town houses, cathedral, museums and shopping opportunities. Distance to the large city of Aarhus is approx. 60 km.
