About our home

Our home has been our heaven and retreat over the past three years. We have treated it as an art project- creating a space and gardens for all to enjoy, we call it The Temple Tea House. We have landscaped nearly 360 degrees of our home and are still amazed every day by the view of the river and mountains.

Our property is about an acre large and has only the view of the river, not another house in sight. There are two neighboring homes, the closest is unoccupied currently (usually is) and the second is an older American lady who is happy to help with anything as she's lived here for almost 20 years.

The cabin is very peaceful, beautifully decorated and has an energy of great peace. It is a rustic cabin and has small drafts and other quirky but easily manageable characteristics.

Fully furnished from the blender to a Bose sound system!

The cabin is a 5 minute, $1.50 taxi ride (or a 20 minute walk along the river) to the beautiful town of Baños in the province of Tungurahua- a region of agriculture. so our markets are full of fruits and vegetables from the hands of the farmers and very inexpensive! We have used this as a place to eat mainly raw and find it so easy here!

The quaint town of Baños (6,000ft elevation) is very cute- cobble stoned one way streets, restaurants owned and run by expats making good food available. It is a town for Ecuadorians to retreat to and relax in nature, so hiking, rafting, biking and many outdoor adventures are abundant along with many spas offering inexpensive massage and spa treatments. Steam therapy is popular here as the water is taken from the area's volcanic thermals. There are hot springs at the base of a waterfall in town that are a great treat!

We are new to house swap, but we're always open to sharing our home, and as we are going to be travelling in California and Bali over the next 12 months we are hoping that we can find perfect matches!

Available June 2013 -May 2014 ideally for 3 month minimum stays
