About our home

This house has is a modern 3 bedroom house which has a victorian feel about it. The ceilings are very high which makes it feel very spacious. The bedrooms are quite large with the main bedroom having air conditioning. The second bedroom has a small balcony attached. The floors throughout are tiled with carpet in the living room and the bedrooms have egyptian carpets. The kitchen and bathroom/laundry are fully tiled. There is another room attached to the front of the house which has a toilet which is used for entertaining guests. There is a large balcony down one side of the house which catches all the breeze. The garden has a nice selection of fruit trees and provide some nice fruit and shade in summer. The yard is surrounded by a very high brick fence to provide privacy. There are 2 TV's one in the main bedroom and one in the living room and they are connected to payTV. There is internet connection too. There are steps that lead to the roof at the front of the house. The roof has a water tank at the moment and provisions for animals but we have no animals. The roof is also a nice place at night to catch the cool breeze and do some stargazing.

The house is situated in a town called Bawiti which is the main town in an oasis called Baharya. We are located just about in the centre of Egypt and it is part of the Western Desert. The town is bedouin tradition and has around 23000 people. The people here are very friendly and welcome foreigners. This village is the destination tourists come to begin there adventures and safaris into the desert. We are located about 350km south of Cairo. The house has vacant land blocks on either side of it so it is very private and quiet. It is just off the main road into the town and is only about 2 minutes drive to the town centre. This town has a lot of history just as the rest of Egypt but is great place to use as a launch pad.

My name is Marianne and I am from Australia. I live here with my husband Waleed who is from Bawiti. We have a safari business and organise tripts into the desert. We have a 6 month old daughter Jasmin. We love the desert and the bedouin way of life. I speak english and am learning arabic. Waleed speaks arabic and is learning english. I am only interested in travelling back to Australia at the moment but small trips to Europe would also interest us. I am a qualified veterinary nurse and would love to take care of your pets. Both of us love the outdoors and enjoy gardening. We are trustworthy reliable honest and caring people. We are non drinkers and enjoy the quiet life.
