About our home
Our home is situated on the beautiful west coast of Finland, in the countryside surrounding the small town of Jakobstad. The house is a comfortable modern-style, bright and spacious 3-floor home, built mainly by ourselves during 2007-2010.
1st floor: Entrance, 3 bedrooms, bathroom including shower, bath tub, separate toilet, washer and a genuine Finnish wood heated sauna.
2nd floor: Spacious and comfortable living room with large LCD TV, Blueray/DVD, audio system and fireplace. Good size kitchen with ordinary equipment; fridge, freezer, oven, electrical stove, dishwasher, coffee maker and toaster. Large dining area, seats 8. 1 bedroom. Toilet.
3rd floor: One bedroom. Air conditioning system.
The house may be set up to sleep 6-7 people or more. It has wooden floors and central underfloor heating. Especially the living room and dining area on the 2nd floor, as well as the bedrooms on 2nd and 3rd floors provide beautiful views of the typical Ostrobothnian landscape. 300 Mbit connection and WiFi. If needed, laptop free of charge. Outdoor furniture seats 8. Coal-heated barbecue available. Experience the bright nights of the Nordic summer!
2-car garage including one of our cars free of use (2014 Citroën Grand Picasso diesel, seats 7), bicycles in various sizes for adults and children.
Convenient for families, eg. toys for different ages are already in place. Trampoline, play house and sand pit in the yard.

More about us

We are a Swedish-speaking Finnish married couple of age 44 and 42, working as chief of social services and demand planner within the food industry. Our children are two daughters age 14 and 10, and two sons, age 8 and 3.

We have completed three successful home exchanges; UK 2012, France 2013 and Denmark 2015.
2023 would be our fourth home exchange. We take good care of our home and would treat yours with the same respect. -
We are open to all offers for June 2023, although Belgium, Netherlands, Italy (Milano-surrounding area), Spain (Barcelona surrounding area), Germany (Berlin-surrounding area) and Ireland would be of special interest.
We basically don’t have points, thus simultaneous swaps only.
We are eager for car exchange as well, also for a 5-seater.

Where is it?
Neighbourhood
Small village 10 mins from the town of Jakobstad. Within easy driving distance of the towns of Karleby (25 mins), Seinäjoki (70 mins) and Vasa (60 mins), from where you have easy ferry access to Sweden/Umeå (4 hrs). Nearest airports (25 mins) are Kokkola-Pietarsaari and Vaasa (60 mins) by car.
Railroad station within walking distance (1,5 km), will take you e.g. to Helsinki within 3,5 hours. The village has its own grocery store 2 km away, and lunch restaurant, bakery, pharmacy and library (1,5 km). Larger super/hyper markets with easy parking available in Jakobstad (10 mins). The sea (Gulf of Bothnia) with beautiful beaches about 15 mins away. 2 golf courses within reach. Different attractions available, e.g. Powerpark (30 mins) including various activities, the Mika Salo circuit, amusement park and restaurants.
Quiet neighborhood despite connections and certain services nearby. Friendly neighbors.
